On my 03_2003 Lightening I have installed an UseFORCE pipe, and it is starting to rust.

Can anyone tell what I can do to get rid of the rust and keep it away.

Has anyone else had this problem.

Cheapest way is to steel wool it and spray paint it. Is it rusting on the inside or outside? Paint them both (buy good paint) and do it often........Charlie

It's already jet-hot coated.

Are you sure it's not baked on dirt? That's what mine does...

Does Rain was off the Jet-Hot coating?

How can I tell the difference between rust and baked on dirt?

What about wrapping the pipes?

M1 Combat: Does Jet-Hot Coating wash away?

Still unsure what baked on dirt looks like.

Can I use steel wool? Wont that damage my pipes?

Still open to suggestions. I am trying to avoid a costly repair.

I don't think jet-coating wears off. At least not that quick anyway. I would try washing it of with a little elbow grease.

It shouldn't "wash" away, but the dirt should with some elbow grease.

If you use the ceramic paint method FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE CAN WORD FOR WORD. And no cheating... otherwise it'll peel and you'll think it looked better rusty (or dirty).

Fella's:

Thanks for all the tips. I plan to work on it this weekend. I'll post before and after pic's once I'm complete.

I am still open to suggestions. The pipe is hardly six (6) months old. I hope elbow grease is the answer. I am doubtful, but I am going to follow the advise of the sages.
