I'm debating getting the extended service plan for the '06 XB12R. The bike already has a 24 month unlimited mile standard coverage. My '03 V-rod with now 11k miles since 9/02 has been bullet proof. And I get on it pretty good too. So is the extended service worth it? I do plan to keep the bike much longer than 5 years but I figure if anything happens it will be within the 2 years of the factory warranty. Also, I don't plan to mod the bike anymore than the racing exhaust from Buell. I understand that it is piece of mind, but from what I've researched, there are very few major issues that happen with the bike. Ideas? |

by extended service I imagine you mean extended warranty. The services are expensive so if they were included I would say go with it. But in all normal circumstances, any problems that the bike comes with should be worked out before the factory warranty is gone, so just go with that |

The factory extended warranty is ONLY as good as your local Buell dealer (or the Buell dealer you use). |

I've heard nothing but good things about the FT. Washington dealership in Wash,DC - pro-buell people - guess if you don't want to work/maintain your own bike then go for the 5 year. By the way, there's a very active DC area BRAG mailing list on yahoo (dcbrag yahoogroup) and DC-VA-MD Buell Riders forum here on BadWeb: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/95865.html?1130040648 |

Thanks for the info. The folks at the Ft.Washington dealership are really nice and know what they are doing...well as far as my V-Rod goes. Which goes in for its 10k service tomorrow. I'll bring the Vaseline for that bill. Anyway, thanks for the tip Johnb. I am a member of that HOG chapter but only go about 3 times a year. I may do more BRAG events. |
