Does anyone know of a 6 speed tranny for the XB's? I have heard of them, but just don't know who makes them. | ||

Not yet. Would like one myself. They use to have an aftermarket one for the tubers, but it won't fit the XB. | ||

That would be the Baker XL6 6-Speed Overdrive for the Sporty or Buell TUBERS only. Might be possible to get it to fit into an XB by grinding the tranny case to obtain additional clearance for the cartridge unit - don't know if anyone's ever done it on a non-trapdoor case. Front/rear drive pulley kits offered by BadWeb sponsors www.americansportbike.com & www.trojan-horse.co.uk provide higher top end (but less acceleration) & retain std belt/tensioner. fyi, if yer venturing over to take a peek at that baker site pick the BROADBAND version for the bells+whistles dj/indy are talkin about. kinda waiting for their 2006 'cheesecake' calendar to come out.  now, everyone send a request for an xb version of the xl6 trannie (although they say due to the new design of the engine cases, most likely there will not be any 6-speeds for these models available in the future..) | ||

I ordered the cheesecake, too! I love the FAQ section on that site. Just wait on the 6-speed. I wouldn't be surprised if Harley came out with a 6-speed for the new XL cases in a few years. The big bikes get a 6th gear next year and they always get the improvements first. | ||

I always shift to 6th gear on the Highway. It would be nice if it were actually there. My Honda Element is the same way...4500rpm at cruising speed just seems high. | ||

I think the Harleys with the new six speeds still maintain the same 1:1 ratio, which to me is a misrepresentation of a 'new six speed' In essence that is just tightening the ratios up a bit and adding another gear. This is not an overdrive that I think we are all craving. | ||

I think we're used to our cars being at 2000 RPMs at highways speed. Except they don't redline at 7500 RPMs. The engine seems quite happy buzzing along at 4500. |
