Can anyone tell me what size it is, what its called, and where I can get the torx wrench needed to take this off? Why does Buell use these infuriating things? ARGH. As much as I love the crossroads bars, I still want to get lower, so I think I'm going to try to mount an XBR top triple in the near future and I want to pull everything apart in advance to get a sense of what I'm dealing with in there. Thanks. |

Why does Buell use these infuriating things? I wish they hadn't as well. It a #27 security torx I think. Since you're thinking of using the XB*R upper triple clamp, this will help with what you're dealing with there. Good luck! |

Odie, you should sell Special Ops triple clamp conversion kits. There seems to be plenty of demand. |

They call them tamper proof torx bits they are for security reasons like not being able to steal the bike by just pulling it off |

Seconding what Johnparts said- the Firebolts have these fastening the ignition switch. I think they're used so that the professional thieves will have to steal extra stuff from the Snap-On truck when they break into it... |

The bolts size is a T45 tamper proof. You need to find the tool for that. |

Tamper proof torx is common on almost any type vehicle made anymore. Just pick up a small set at any auto parts store. It is a stupid ideal because it is only tamper proof until you have the right bits. |

Bikertrash, problem with the Tork bolts on the Buell is they used an uncommon size. T45. Believe me, I looked all over town to find one store out of many that had it. |

A buddy of mine had redone his bike and what he did was drill a hole in the end. He got a socket bit and was able to clamp it down to drill the hole. I had already gotten mine from Al at American Sport Bike and didn't know my buddy did this...oh well. (Message edited by lovematt on October 22, 2005) |
