I know that I have seen this somewhere but can't find it in the knowledge vault. When the velocity stack wars were at their height, some insurgent did a drawing of the XB12 inlet nipple and its relationship to the stack. I am trying to build a flow-conditioner for my twin-inlet system but need to know how high above the stack opening the nipple sits? Presumably it sticks up further in cold weather... |

Thank you very much everybody, fascinating to see the uniformity of the resultant tract. My twin 42mm body has far too much area so I'm hoping that this will improve the bottom end. I'll start making sawdust right away. (I only have wood machinery, ie my hands, not metal-working skills. If the wooden version works I'll duplicate it in Glass fibre. |

Martin, I have a spare XB12 airbox cover if you want to borrow it for a mould? |

I still have that aluminum velocity stack that I made from the solid model. Now that I have a 12 I was going to put it up on eBay. |

Thanks for the offer, Matt, but my close-coupled twin velocity stack is a different shaped curve to the standard 12 one. I should hate to mess up a good 12 lid (and have to buy it!) Good luck with your trick Uly for the NEC. Jerseyguy: I'd keep that piece, if I were you, as it will be the prime exhibit in the forthcoming 'Stack Wars museum and Visitor Attraction' in Parumph, Nevada |

Thanks to the drawing from Jerseyuy I managed to carve a twin nipple from some wood I had lying about. This was only slightly better aesthetically than my famous 'Plastic Funnel and silicone sealer' single nipple but does a much better job. The bike will now tolerate much more throttle than before without bogging and has a smoother and progressive drive. My only continuing problem is a hesitation just off idle that I think is down to the bigger injectors flooding the ports at tickover. blipping the throttle at the lights gives a much better take-off but is a bit show-offy.Since Trojan's new ecu-fooler works from 1363 revs or so that may not be the whole answer, but it might allow me to refit the standard injectors and increase their duty time at the top-end. So all I HAVE TO DO IS SELL SOME MORE STUFF to pay for one. lucky's exhaust anyone? |
