If you havent run it in properly by 1000 then it wont make any difference. If you have then it will be fine to use it by then. |

Dont worry, you can put SYN3 in the day you take it home. I know people are gonna tell you to wait and blah blah blah but H-D puts SYN3 in all the Screamin Eagle bikes from the factory, so if they really thought it was a problem do you think they would do it? |

I was told to wait till 2k miles. Syn 3 was supposedly too slippery. |

November issue of American Iron magazine has a good article on Synthetic oil, begins on page 32. Draw your own conclusions, of course. |

I ran it in my bike and found that at a (cold) start up the lifters were louder. It takes a few for them to build pressure. I still run it in my primary/trans. Just couldn't get used to MORE noise. |

i had them put sny3 at my 1000 mile check up.....3500 miles later they are replacing the whole top half of my motor. when i got to 3200 mile my oil lite came on and the bike started running bad. i took it right away to my dealer witch was 3 miles away. they checked the oil and the dip stick was completely dry. they put 2 quarts back in it and marked the dip stick and told me to come back in 1000 miles. when i came back they had to put another 2 quarts in it. now they are replacing the top half of the engine. the bike never leaked and it doesn't smoke. where could the oil have gone? i should be getting it back this week cant wait. not much time left to ride this year. |

Jim ,you a have similar situation as 'Builtbyted' in another topic. Were'nt you checking the oil level? I dont know whats the standard consumption, but its not uncommon for either 9's or 12's to use 1qt per 1000miles. |

Had SYN3 put in at 1K oil change (Miles 868 at 1K service) and my oil consumption went down considerably. Prior too the 1K service my 05'12Scg used almost an entire quart to maintain proper level. At 1K service changed to SYN3, My bike consumed approximately 4-5 OZ. between 1K and next service at about 2200 miles. Still using SYN3 and now have 3700+ miles and have only used 1 OZ. since last service to maintain oil level. |

I put synthetic oil in my bike at 500 miles. That was well over 35,000 miles ago. |
