Im curious about the 1/4 mile time on the 05 xb9r? The 03's that I have seen tested were with 78 hp and run 11.7 +/-. The 05's are rated at 92 hp. was their a Difference in the motors? Does anyone know the 1/4 mile on an o5? Thanks | ||

I think thats 92hp at the crank, which was in the ads for the 2003's also. | ||

the only motor changes I'm aware of are the throttle body was changed in 2004 or 2005. And the 2006 air box has changed. neither one should cause a substantial change in horsepower. So all things being equal...modifications, altitude, weather conditions, rider, clutch, and tires, the 9's from any year should perform identically. (like that ever happens in the real world) Remember spec sheets are just paper, and odds are that you do not have the reflexes and talent of Ricky Gadson or <insert professional racer's name here>.   Of course the percentages may lie and if that's the caase I apologize Mr. Gadson. | ||

Dang i need to go to Johns track, must be down hill. and when ever you see HP and TQ numbers it is at the crank unless it says "at wheels" | ||

Which means also that every bike experiences power train losses. That also means that you have to look at how lossy the rest of the drive train is. Don't know where Buells with the belt drive would place in that. Flexibility would account for some losses, but chains are heavier and there is a lot more friction. So anyone's guess would be...? should be basically a wash as far as drive line loss. the (pre-06) buell transmission is rather archaic. the reduction in mass with the belt drive should help offset the inefficiency of the tranny. | ||
