Please don't flame me for using Dunlop tires but for the price ($99) and the mileage (4400 miles), I just put another one on the bike today. I got 2200 miles out of the stock rear and replaced the front at 4400. The D220 front appears that it'll last about 10k. I was surprised at their grip in the rain and never slid the rear unlike the stock one it came with. It was one hot mother this summer in lower Alabama so warmup isn't an issue. Ask Odie from Special OPS. For putting rubber on the road I think the D220 price to mileage to performance ratio fit's this commuter's bill. The only tire related question I have for other's with some more experience is, compared to me getting 2200 out of the stock tire how many miles could I expect to get out of another flavor? Personally I think 4400 miles sucks, I'm looking for a rear tire made of stone. |

To each his own on tires. Me personally I don't skimp its your life when it come to tires. Pirellis, Michelins, and Metzlers out perform and outlast the Dunlops from what I have heard from others on this board. |

Try the Pirellis Scorpion Syncs. My rear on those lasts about 8K. |

Bridgestone 020s last pretty well. I use them on a couple of my bikes. |

I've run the D220's for four years now on three different Buells. They stick well (run right up to the edge of the tire) and they last pretty well. I do some long trips and the extra mileage from the dual compound helps me out quite a bit. |

I have also run the D220s on the rear and got about 6500 miles out of it. For additional mileage you might try the Michelin Pilot Roads...I am getting at least 8,000 out of the rear and 10,000 out of the front (I like to turn). They are pretty sticky and they give you A LOT of tread...like over 1/4" on the back to start with. I think that is how they get better mileage by taking a fairly sticky tire and putting more tread on it. (Message edited by lovematt on October 12, 2005) |

I have 4000MI on my 220s and the look great. I think 8000 is about right for mine. Nice tire, does everything well, IMHO. |

The 220's are very good tires. I've had them on my XB9S for several months and have no complaints. They are better than the OEM tires and are quite good in the rain. If you're happy with them, then don't worry about what others say. But when it is time to replace them (8k or more miles) do your research on the latest developments in tires for your XB. |

I was only able to manage 3,900 miles on D-220s on a 98 S1W. I don't do burn-outs, but do like to accelerate quickly and brake hot. Since I am in Florida, most of my riding (unfortunately)is straight line with some curves. Wish you better luck with yours. |

Got about 12,000 out of my Dunlop 207. Am I lazy, unskilled, or cheap? |

Doughnut, How the hell do you managed to get that 12000 miles out of 207? I see the belt on mine after less than 5000! I can't say I'd trust that figure, sorry.

Don't know what to say, I have NEVER change the tires on my S2. You are welcome to come see the odometer and the tire. I'm going on my second year with this rear from the dealer. It is balder then I like, but it will last the rest of the season with my riding.Like I said, "lazy, unskilled, or cheap?". |

Will try to get a photo of the rear. I really suck at computer stuff though. I guess I am just a REALLY conservative rider. My buddy got about ten on his with his "old" S3-T. Wear bars? Are those the little "bumps" in the center line of the tread? |

Wow, I was lucky if I could get to 2k on my 207s. My Metzler Z6s are going to 4.5 to 5k. I ride like a little old lady too! Just how much Duct Tape did you use on those 207s Doughnut?JK (Message edited by unibear12r on October 15, 2005) |

XB9rski, Why are you going back to the 205 over the 220? I am going to need new tires soon and am planing on Dunlop, just not sure which. |

I'll give the Pirelli Diablos my vote. Just did a track day on them and was VERY pleased. I used the standard Diablo, not the Corsa, and the tires stuck like glue. |

J, What’s going on Brother. Things are ok here, can't wait to get back home though. You'll have to fill me in on the Club you guy's got going on. Doughnut, the 205 lasted a lot longer for me, unfortunately they are being replaced by the 220, which is still a great tire in my own opinion, I'm going to use them as long as I can still get them. I put on Scorpion Syncs and they are wearing very well. They grip like crazy dry or wet and the bike leans in to the turns with little effort. |
