Has anyone tried the Buell bags part # 91458-05Y? If so just how much stuff will they hold?

Mountainrider, I have the Buell bags you mentioned. I've had them on for a month or so and they work great. Capacity is somewhat limited, but overall I am happy. I leave the side bags on all the time just for the convenience. Not for style. They're great for putting your extra jackets or rain-gear and such in for those day rides that turn chilly in the evening! They also work great for small grocery store trips or take-out!

If you're going somewhere for the weekend, then I would definitely add the trunk bag that attach to the side bags! I just recently did a 1225 mile round trip from IL. to KS. (and back)and the trunk bag was the perfect size for my clothes and such! Still had room to spare in the side bags. If you still needed more space you could always add the tank bag!

Hope this helps!

They will hold a bottle of wine, a pair of loafers, raingear, bike cover, rain poncho, 1 pair of socks, 1 pair of underwear(Briefs), a t-shirt, 3 doobies and a pack of Backwoods cigars. They were expanded, but not too tightly packed. I also have the Streetfighter tailbag, but the trunk bag would be nice. They're not totally waterproof either, but somewhat water resistant. They look cool, but they do mess up the frame a little bit after a while with some scratching and wear marks, but that's what touch up paint is for, right?

I forgot about the tail bag... I usually run that with the saddle bags when I'm just out and about. Great for throwing the gloves & hat in.

Note: The trunk bag comes with an elasticized rain cover with a drawstring do-dad to keep it tight and secure... Doesn't sound like it would stay on too well, but it actually feels like it might. Haven't had the "pleasure" of needing to try it out yet!

Yeah, I been looking at them saddlebags too. Also was wondering on the capacity and waterproofness of em, but they scuff the frame, huh? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I can get a new set for like a hundred bucs, think I'll probally get em.

100.00 would be a great price. The 150.00 range is the best I have found.
