did my first track day yesterday at NHIS in Loudon, NH....HOLY CR@P, WHAT A GREAT DAY!!! I didn't realize how much I would learn in a day at the track, about myself, my bike and what both are capable of....parts were just a total hoot, parts were quite humbling. I started out pretty cautious, but as the day progressed the confidence came and by the later parts of the day I was flyin' I can't wait to go again!! |

Ohhh, dangerous addiction that one ... Congrats. Humbling and educational - yep, that sums it up. Soon you'll be wanting a trailer, a track-only bike fully wired and set up for track, a set of track tools etc etc Henrik |

Look for a company who hosts track days at your local track. For example, here's one I attend: http://www.lstd.com. They do a pretty good job of explaining everything you'll need. The requirements are easy to meet. For track days: - DOT approved helmet - leather gloves - leather boots that cover the ankle - Tires with half tread left - Padded jacket and pants (leather preferred) - taped off license plate, headlights, tail lights, and blinkers (it's best to disconnect or remove them if you can) - no leaking fluids - the throttle must snap back properly when released There's probably more, but those are the basics for a track day. |

Yeah, sometimes I really hate Daves and Skully for what they've done to me. They both have a pocket full of those little bugs that they like to throw on people. Now they're crawling all over me and constantly biting. Those little bastards... BEWARE.

Dago, you missed a biggie......don't go to the track on a Buell without knee sliders....you'll need em. Also blank your speedo with tape....if you can look at it without consequences you're not going fast enough. |
