Hello all, I have been doing a lot of wheelies with my XB9S. It is the primary use of my bike - entertainment! I tried to land as softly as possible but I had, however, to re-tight my steering head column three times this Summer because it gets loose over time. Once re-torqued, the steering head column feels perfect, except for this time. I feel like that my front rotor has a kink when I use the front brake with some force and the suspension compresses under braking. If the braking is light, there is no 'clicking'. I have the feeling that the problem is in the wheel as the 'clicking' seems to be repetitive from rotation. I checked the rotor, the pads and the caliper assembly, but I can't find anything loose or damaged. This problem developed in parallel to the steering head column becoming loose. I could feel the two different problems before I re-torqued the steering head. Any of this happened to any of you? Thanks in advance | ||

Over and over again Frank. You play you pay! Maybe that is why they put bigger(49mm)forks on the new bikes? It sure is fun on one tire though!!!LOL | ||

Sounds like wheel bearings to me. Check it before you ride much more, if those things sieze and you are lucky, you pull over with a trashed front wheel. If they sieze and you are not lucky, you lowside, highside, or loop. | ||

Check to make sure that the rotor is moving free on all posts. We had a bike doing that, sprayed some brake clean at all the springs, washed it good and it went away. It was just sticky. It's an easy(cheap) thing to try first. | ||

Mine clicked the first day I got it, when I brought it back they said it was the rotor moving around on the mounts. It comes and goes, mostly stays gone though. 99buellx1, is brake clean safe for the rims? I would think it would eat the paint away. | ||

Mine clicks all the time under hard braking, and has since I bought it. | ||

I have recently been doing some wheelies on my city X, it really feels like its beating it to death when it comes down. doesn't feel like I am destroying it as much when I do them on a friends R6. maybe the buell just cant take it, I mean it comes down and sounds like its gonna explode. stopped doing them. | ||

You don't have to let the bike slam down from a twelve O'clock, I do wheelies ALL THE TIME on my NEW XB12Ss and I can 9 times out if ten lay it down softer than hitting a crack in the road. | ||

I dont slam it from 12 oclock, I dont even take it to 12 oclock, I might need to soften up the front suspension. I have it pretty stiff. | ||

Mine clicked from day one,and when I turned it around in the garage it would rub on the rotor. I made a complaint the first service then again after the 8000kms, and finally they took it for a ride and decided to replace the rotor and mounts. Now it works great ,no noise at all and smooth braking! | ||

I think the xb lands better from wheelies than my old gsxr. It would slam hard. The buell is like a good pilot setting an airplane on the runway. | ||

You need to give it a little throttle to soften the landing. If you just snap the throttle shut and/or stomp on the rear brake to bring the front end down, expect a hard landing and early wear out of front end components no matter what brand of bike you are riding. | ||

happened on my 12r, replace your rotor and hardware, I will get some pics and post them later tonight. |
