I wasn't griping, I was just typing.
It's Wednesday, not far enough from Monday, not close enough to Friday. Call it the hump-day blues.

ps, new messages still not working well.

"blathering ridiculous exagerations"+"again"? HUH???Two blue XBs have been sitting on my dealers floor for sale at $9999 for roughly 2 1/2 months,i think thats a very, very long time for a bike i keep reading on this site people are looking for. When i read someone was considering coming from California, all the way to Ohio to get an XB,(at another dealer near me)sorry,it caught my attention and made me wonder what the reason was for a dealer around here having them still for sale at $1000 off is.

Have i "blathered"other "ridiculous exagerations"? WHEN?

That HSA exhaust should be made of gold instead of stainless steel! 475 UK pounds comes out to $731.47! I just heard back from D&D. Their Firebolt is on the dyno now. Told me to check their web site in a couple of weeks. Any word on Vance & Hines?

Here's a question I'm not sure if it's been brought up before. You know how when you stop for gas, you're supposed to turn off engine, not smoke, turn off your cell phone etc to prevent sparks. What about the Firebolt fan? Everytime I stop for gas, as soon as I pull up to the pump and turn the key off, the fan starts up. Seems like that is a spark waiting for a place to happen! I'm not overly worried about it, just wondering if it could be a hazzard.

I know had least a bunch of 1980s Honda cars had electric fans that would run with the ignition off. They didn't seem to cause any explosions.

If it's a concern:
1. Park bike at the pump preferrably in the shade.
2. Go into store, take a leak, thoroughly wash your hands.
3. Buy a snack and a cup of something like a soda or coffee or water.
4. Eat food and beverage.
5. Wash hands and face after eating.
6. Go to the bathroom once the food and beverage has settled a bit.
7. Wash hands again.
8. Go to magazine rack and peruse the magazines and car/bike ad rags.
9. Talk with the clerk for awhile.
10. Leave store, go to pump, if the fan is still running then go back to step 2. If the fan has stopped, insert debit card into pump, pump gas, take receipt, go ride.

If it's not a concern then just pay/pump/ride.

 heaps of attitude
new message from BMC points you to http://buell.com/products/motorcycles/firebolt/fireboltvideo.asp .

text says: 'The Buell® Firebolt™ XB9R has been getting a lot of attention - on street corners and on newsstands around the world. So as you might expect, these bikes have been flying off the showroom floor.

If you want to own the world's premier handling sportbike, the motorcycle that everyone's talking about, then get to your dealer right away. It won't be long before someone rides off with your Firebolt.'

thought it was a sportfighter or was that streetfighter? all confused now.

MikeP,

Read the "BBS Formatting" help file. There is a link to it in the left hand frame. If you haven't already, bookmark this site at http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/ . That way you will always have the frames version loaded to start or if you need the board menu as you peruse new messages (new messages pop up without the left frame if you have the proper preference selected in your profile, the one to open links to new messages in a new browser window). :) There are also a lot of undocumented shortcut tags for the smileys and such. There's a topic in the Quick Board that shows those shortcut tags.

And, there is one undocumented image tag. Use the \imagelink{URL of pic file here} to post/share gif or jpg pictures that are already resident on the web. Like if you have a photo account online or whatever. :)

Just got that e-mail update from the Buell website. ::yawn:: The new commercial is BORING. At least the smiley face one grabbed your attention, but so far the best Buell ads I've seen have all come out of magazines (the squirrel with the Home Alone-esque paws clapped to face was my personal favorite.

Anyways, on another note, I'm taking my race kitted Firebolt in for a dyno run tomorrow. We'll see how it pulls in the 'real world'. Then later tomorrow afternoon it's off to the Milan Dragway.

My Firebolt ROLLED OFF IT's stand!!!! WTF!!!!
Broke my blinker and clutch lever. Only cost me thirteen bucks to replace both but I would like to be able to leave my bike running and not have to baby sit it. Anyone heard of anything like this?? Really pisses me off. Especially when the bike is two F***ing days old.

LOTS and LOTS of BMW K1200RS owners have had their bikes roll off their sidestands. I had it happen once as I was getting off, so I eased it down with no real damage. One other time it started rolling as soon as I got off and I barely caught it.

My Firebolt sidestand seems much better, but...

Best habit to get into is to leave the bike in first, engine running, deploy sidestand, ease clutch out until it kills engine (the clutch switch will do that before the engine does), then turn off the ignition. Park bike in first gear - ALWAYS!

Get in the habit of doing this even when the ground looks flat. Bike running on the sidestand is probably not a good idea unless the sidestand is secured somehow (with a tie-down, perhaps?).

letting the CLUTCH stop the enjine??? Thats an accident waiting to happen...what if instead of killing engine, the bike jumps forward?

There is a reason there is a start/run/off switch...

I've dropped mine!

I pass through Cheyenne, Wyoming and fall into a steady pace of 110 miles per hour. (for the faint of heart, please note I that am in full protective gear). After an hour or so, I need to stop for gas. Seems my mileage really suffers (39mpg) at that speed. I hang a right in Orin, WY and resume at a pace of 75 mph in a 65, (I know, shame on me!) Riding down the road, minding my own business, I notice "The Law" approaching in the opposite direction. I casually flash a "peace" sign, not reaching for the brake (that would be a clear sign to "The Law" that I know I am speeding. Oddly enough I see him turn around lights flashing. Not wanting to appear on one of those "Wlidest Police Chase Videos" I pull over, off the very narrow shoulder onto the embankment. Knowing the drill, I remove my helmet, place it on the ground to my left, and casually wait for the impending ticket. The rear wheel slips slightly down the embankment, the center of gravity shifts hard right. Bike tips, embankment is just steep enough where I can't get my right foot down to catch it. It falls from underneath me, while I ever-so-gracefully jump down the embankment (gracefull because I land on my feet!) "The Law" is kind enough to help me put the bike rubber side down. Pride wounded, bike undamaged. All of the parts on it are very "bendy". Flexible rubber mounted mirrors and lights, with folding foot pegs. The Law writes me a warning ticket, and we procede to B.S. about motorcycles for 10 minutes on the side of the highway. He is a biker too, and a nice guy. Seems he was more
interested in checking out the newest Buell than the speeding infraction. Whilst departing the scene, I say to The Law "Be sure and tell all of your friends what an idiot I made out of myself today!" He replies "I'll do better than that..." He reaches into the car and pats
the dash mounted camera, "...I've got it all on tape!" Seems I may make that TV show after all.

Rockbiter1,

I know it sounds bad, but it's NOT the clutch killing the engine. As I said: "(the clutch switch will do that before the engine does)" I thought that was clear, but...

As soon as you start (slowly) releasing the clutch, the clutch switch realizes you're in gear and kills the engine long before the clutch engages.

It's also a quick check that all of your "safety" items are in working order.

Chainsaw,

I feels your pain brutha. But hit the brake next time okay? Most LEO's (all the ones I have spoken to) appreciate the show of respect that slowing down indicates. Ignoring them pisses them off. And if they are looking to hand out speeding tickets, they sure aren't going to let you go anyway. You don't have a brake light in front do you? :joker:

Blake:
Not reaching for the front brake (which the officer can see) gives credibility to my story of, "Oh, I thought this was a 75 zone?". Not meant as disrespect the The Law. I figured I was collecting some paperwork anyway, but as I figure, they see me slowing down, they know that I know I was speeding. I did only get a warning ticket, and this was the FIRST time in my LIFE that I have EVER been stopped for speeding! (I'm 32, just lucky I guess)

Thanks for the advice guys. It was the fact that the bike was very new that really got me. I can't wait to get my race kit. SCREW BACK ORDERS!!!! My buddy who rides an X1 pulls up next to me and it feels like I'm riding a jap bike cause I'm so quiet. I DON'T LIKE THAT. Oh well, patience is a virtue, right?

Does anyone know where I could get the custom touring Firebolt seat for under $145? I know sporttwin has it for $144.95, I'm just looking for an even better deal.

If anyone has a hookup, feel free to reply.

Thanks!!
