Well, I'm alive. Drove to Pensacola in 1st gear with the truck loaded (Buell too). Took ten freakn hours to get there!
Finally got to head home after a week stuck in a hotel room to find trees and powerlines blocking my street.
Cranked the chainsaw and got a path cleared.
Had to kick the front door (5.5ft of water was in my home), STINK!
Mold was growing everywhere, mud on the floors, fridge fell over spilling all the food, day old couch soaked. 36" TV's float??? Well that flipped over and crashed on the floor. All doors warped. Powertools rusting.
You get the picture.

Here's a shot from my office, the big yacht in the back is a 50 footer.

Well after seeing that and my office blown away, I'm moving to Austin TX. Any other Buellers there?

Ya, TVs float. A CRT is mostly a soft vacuum, and well as everyone knows "nothing" is pretty light for its volume. The same displacement of water is way heavier. A 30" tv displaces about 8 gallons or so of water, now compare the weight of your tv with that much water. The tv is way lighter.

Very glad to hear you're OK (and saved your Buell), at the very least it's good to know most people are sensible (and responsible) for themselves and they aren't standing around crying "poor me".

Good luck, hope you get back to "normal" ASAP.

Wheels: GLad to hear you're OK. You're gonna love Austin. And it's close to el ranchito chingadero, site of several near-legendary gatherings of Buell riders from the Houston-Austin-San Antonio triangle. Let me know if you need any help getting oriented.

Road; My uncle is the one that will be setting me up there. He's got a company named Keyotee in Wild Basin.
I've never been to Austin, so any info would be helpful.

My heart goes out to all who are suffering through Katrina. It brings tears to my eyes watching the TV coverage every night. Chin up to all who endured, hang in there, things will eventually get better. Heartfelt feelings from Canada.

Texas is awesome! Austin, besides the teasippers(Longhorns), is a great city to live in. I am from dallas, living in N GA. You will love Austin and there are some pretty good riding roads around there. A LOT of traffic so be careful. Glad your you made it through Katrina... 6th street rules... reminds me of Bourbon Street... yet not quite as cool... Good Luck!!!

I lived in Austin for 2 years, great town, close to lots of water. The things I remember most fondly are Barton Springs, Hippie Hollow, Lake Austin, and 6th street

P.S. Fire ants suck.

1st thing to know about living in Texas...
NEVER TAKE ADVICE FROM AN AGGIE!!!

I too am a Texas transplant living in Georgia.
Austin is the only city I would even consider leaving Athens for.
Hill Country, History, Bars and College Girls!!!
What else could a man need?

Best of luck with the move!

I lived in Austin for 2 years, great town, I thought that was what he wanted to get away from?
Seriously, though, hope it works for you.
I'm sure that a new New Orleans will rise from the ruins given the resilience of your countrymen and women.

In Austin. WOW! What a change!
hills hills and more steep hills. I'm in Wood Slopes in Lost Creek if anyone knows.
Keep in touch. My current cell is 985-960-3281, try text message.
But it's not working well since Katrina.
I'll be getting a new cell # soon.

Went cruise the town and Travis Lake today in the truck. I'll be cranking the Buell possibly tonight.

Good luck in Austin. I am a Louisiana boy living in Texas also. I live south of Houston. Austin has some awesome roads not too far away. When you get a chance, check out Concan and Lakey. Anywhere in the Hill County is great. By the way, are you a LSU fan? I am and the only news you will get here is the raw score. They always talk about UT and A&M. In Houston we get more LSU coverage but I doubt you will even get A&M coverage in Austin. UT now means University of Texas not University of Tennessee as it dose in the SEC. Most here like LSU because we can beat OU. ; ) I wish I lived there instead of in this heat and humidity but my wife is from this area and the umbilical cord is still attached. joker Have fun Austin, I wish I were you. I just hope that New Orleans doesn’t loose too much of it's good citizens as they will need all the help rebuilding the city and the region.

Yes there is Texas Motor speedway in College Station. Look up Lone Star Track Day on google. DFW has one called Motorsports Ranch and Houston is slated to get one also.

www.Lonestartrackdays.com is one website for trackdays... Send your love to that track... spent a crapload of weekends at that track...
Texas motor speedway in college station is a pretty fast track... and motorsport Ranch is a little more technical without the long straight... I wish I could get back to texas...
GoodLuck in Texas and enjoy our women...:P

It is to the east of Austin. Get a map out and look for Texas A&M. I'm sure someone will chime in with some crossroads. It is within a hour from Austin.
