Am planning to take my XB9R across the ferry from UK to France for a long weekend to tour the Normandy area in a couple of weeks. She is showing 4300 miles so was planning on doing the 5k service this week. I've got spares for all bulbs & fuses, some cable ties, loctite and a few spare fasteners under the seat just in case. Any body got any tips on useful stuff to carry on longer trips or stuff to watch out for e.t.c., guess I'll be covering 800 to 1000 miles |

Useful stuff. Ok. Electrical tape, duct tape and tool kit (complete one.) You look good to go being you have the bulbs, fuses, cable ties and loctite. Just do a complete fluid change before you go. Oil and trans fluid. Also, go over you bike and check that all fasteners are good and tight. Other than that. Just gas it and go. On my trip (4500 miles) the Buell had no problems but the Sportster and Wide Glide ran into a rubbed wire issue that we fixed with the tape. Oh, also. Some good touring tires. I would recommend the Pirelli Scorps. They come stock on my 9SX and after this trip the rear still has plenty left in it for more riding. (Message edited by cataract2 on September 03, 2005) |

Get a tire patch kit and don't forget the vice grips...they can be used for all kinds of stuff. |

you shouldnt need anything special for a short 1000 mile weekend. assuming you have sufficient tread left. have a great time. dean |
