Just a data point, my 05 XB9SX sidestand bolt did come unthreaded.

It is pretty obvious, as the bike gets a crazy lean before it comes all the way out, and if you look down at the bolt you can see that it no longer sticks out the back.

An easy fix, and you would have to be going out of your way to NOT pay attention for the thing to actually fail and do damage.

Just add it to your oil change inspection list, and if you ever think "geesh! Did that thing always lean that far on the sidestand?" go back and do a quick inspection to make sure that bolt is not backing out.

I slapped some loke-tite red on it, we will see if it holds.

I always thought mine leaned way over compared to all my buddies with 03 9S's.

I think the new stand does lean a little further. It's when it leans a LOT further that you need to start worrying! : )

It's obvious if the bolt is loose, if in doubt just slap a socket on it and see if it tightens...

My bolts came loose on my XB9S, if you return from a ride , lean it against a wall and wait for the exhaust to cool down.

Reepicheep,
Thanks for the tip. I was starting to think I was loosing my mind. I would drop the stand and think " Am I getting taller?"

My 12S bolt loosened then broke. Luckily I caught it before it fell over. Welded up the old bolt but didn't last long. Made my own out of 2 grade 8 bolts. No more problem......
