Anyone know what kind of modifications I need to make in order to fit a pilon onto my 04 XB12s Lightning? Where would I get the parts? |

Pilon? Do you mean "pillion", as in passanger seat? I don't know of any such parts myself, doesn't mean they do not exist. However as a slightly oversize XB9S owner, ( 6-2/210#), I have concluded that it is a one man bike, so I removed the passanger pegs, and added a seat cowl. You might want to take a look at the new XB12Ss, if you absolutely must carry a passanger: it looked like it could carry two people when I looked at one at Danbuy HD open house on Saturday. |

Or if you'd like, you can do the XBR subframe/plastic tail swap. Looks cool too. |

Ok, Here is what Glitch is talking about: A Firebolt tail on a Lightning Unfortunately, at this point in time,this particular one is just a Photochop and a dream:-). However, several Bad webbers have done this switch. They have been pretty good mechanics: this is not a drop in job, by any matter of means.

I was talking of it looking like Dukes. You say you need to be a great mechanic to pull it off? You cant just switch the firebolt back end with the lightning? |

i did it to mine. pic was in my profile. it's not as hard as you would think. somebody here said if you are contemplating it....you can do it. there is alot of info in the knowledge vault (s/r tail swap). i did everything for under $500, using used parts. you need: subframe plastics seats the "S" passenger supports are the same, you will need two new mounting bolts for the supports. (the s has 2 that bolt through the frame with a nut, and two that just screw into the frame. the r uses all 4 that just screw into the frame.) you will need to make the turn signal and brake lines longer (very easy). used butt connectors. zip ties and a little velcro holds everything in place. you will also need to attach the brake resevoir to the subframe (self tapping screw). see this for more info, and feel free to ask any questions. there are a few of us here that have done this already. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/113760.html this site has alot of pictures to show you where stuff ends up. http://www.tsmithbuellxb9slr.com/ |
