Just wanted so say that I recently purchased the buell traction grips and installed them and what a difference over the stock ones!!!!
Originally, I had the stock grips(xb12r-04')and then switched to grab-on(bad grips!) and then finally to the traction grips. The reason for slicing the original grips off was to cut down on the vibration and numbing sensation on my throttle hand. I thought the grab-ons would dampen it a bit but it was like hanging on to a kitchen sponge scrubber with no feed back.
The traction grips even came with grip glue, an applicator and a whole new right throttle sleeve with grip attached. Not bad for $14.00. Not a bad investment over the stock. Great feed back, ergonomically designed and feels like there's something in your hand. Just some input for someone looking for new grips.

I definitely second the traction grips...much better than stock for me. Have had them for about 15,000 miles myself.

I am off to order a pair! I have been useing superbike grips with a few of wraps of duct tape around the bars to make the one inch grips fit tight. Before you ask, I have large hands and hated the 7/8 inch grips. They just seemed to small. Gotta try the tractions though looks like an improvment.

I just went from traction grips back to more "normal" shaped Galindo Superbike Grips. I like the hard rubber normal shape better. Put 530 miles on Saturday and they seemed just fine. It seemed that with the traction grips I would un-consciously grip harder with my outer two fingers and they would get cramped.

What makes them "Superbike" Grips, are they a different compound or shape?

I second (third?) the traction grips. Best cheap mod yet. They follow the curve of the palm, so less carpal-tunnel risk. Plus they're bigger. Probably the only reason they're not standard.

Several of my riding friends have installed the Tration Grips on their import bikes which always makes me smile: )

Another "thumbs-up" for the Traction Grips. I too have a tendency to "grab" the grips too hard and get arm pump... However, I noticed I did this to "soft" grips, like the Grab-Ons, and other such handgrips. The Traction Grips cured all of this. They fit/fill-up my hands and I don't squeeze the kr&p outa them! Great upgrade and a super deal.

That's the model. they say "SuperBike" across them.

Galindo makes an "F1" and a "Super Bike" model. I'll try the F1's next...

Has anyone tried different grips? Right now I use traction grips, just wondering what else is out there.

I just got in a set of "TackiGrips" for my S3. Chaparral and lots of other places have them. They have a similar barrel shape to the Traction grips but with a finely textured surface. Supposedly a lot of the sport-touring riders swear by them, so I thought I'd give them a try.

The traction grips were worth every penny on my 4K trip. Really comfy the whole way through.

Speaking of grips, will anyone here admit to having spent ~$70 on the Buell Torque grips?

For that price, they must be made of foamed unobtanium... }

That would be the TORQUE grips for $70. Likely molding costs is driving that one...

Lovematt,

Thanks for the correction. I just installed and tried my Tacki Grips today. They're very similar in shape to the Traction grips, but a little larger in diameter and the surface is very different. Not sure if I like them better or not, but they seem OK so far.

Whodom,

Let us know how you like them...I was looking at those as well but was wondering if they were of a softer compound.

I think the compound is about the same hardness, but the "ribs" on the surface make them feel a little softer. I think this may allow them to conform to your hand a little better.

They're also about 1/4" longer than the Buell grips. I'm running bar end weights, so I had to cut the ends off that much.
