I DID IT GUYS!!! rode 8 hours on my sporty yesterrday and traded her for my brand new '04 XB12S. Rode the 8 hours back home yeserday too! I have so much to say LOL. I can not believe it, but the Buell is WAY more comfy at highway speeds than the Sortster. Less wind resistance, no pain in hips...I am in shock. The stock seat HAS TO GO though...holy numb bum 2 questions; Corbin seat or the new select seat from Buell? Maybe its cause it is new and still breaking in, or cause it was pretty much run in 5th for the whole 8 hour ride...when stopped if I "hammer" the throttle hard, it hesitates, almost stalls, then VERRRRROOOOOMMMMM. I this normal? Sorry for the long post; PS Custodians - can I can change my screen name or just start a new one? |

Congrats on 12S! The stock seat probably won't get any better. My 9s seat makes my rear end hurt after several hours and I have 5k miles on the bike. On break in periods I believe your supposed to vary the throttle positions so maybe riding at a set speed for so long made the ecm lazy. |

I have the 12Scg ( the low model). The stock seat was awful, so I sold it and bought a Corbin and it was an improvement. It allowed me to lengthen my ride times but it wasn't a cure all. I purchased a CityX seat and that is even more comfortable than the Corbin, although it doesn't look as good. Ultimately, there may be no perfect solution to the "iron butt" phenomena. |

I am still waiting to get a select seat in. I think with the gel they should be great. They are also less money than a Corbin. |

Thx Daves; I think I want the select as well, can you let me know when you get one in...I would love to get your opinion on it as the dealer here won't order one unless its paid for. Holling; I did vary the throttle the whole way, up to 3500-4000 rpm then down to 2500 and back up...made a very LONG 8 hour ride lol |

I also hated my seat on my XB9S,so I took it to an upholsteror and had him rebuild my seat .It is a huge improvement over stock! And it only cost 200$ cdn.! The seat it foam injected ,so the vinyl is stuck to the foam ,making it a bit more to deal with , but he did a great job! Edm, I have the streetfighter seat with a gel insert and it is wonderful. I did 500 miles from Colorado to Utah yesterday riding tank to tank with no rests and had no numb butt or pain. (not even this morning) If the select seat has a gel section it could be the one to get. DBird |

Dbird; Thanks, I have pretty much decided whatever I get HAS to have gel...the select seems the way to go too, but I don't like waiting for stuff once I have decided LOL..Daves, put me down for one! You want a credit card for a deposit? PS no one has responded regarding the hesitation.... |

Give me a call Tuesday with your info and I'll put you down for one. As far as the hesitation I'm not sure I'm understanding what you mean. From closed throttle? While sitting still or riding? At what RPM? |

Guess I really should be more specific! XB12S with race kit installed, 800kms, break in done to manual except at 600 kms went to 120-140 kph (3500-4500 rpm) all highway done yesterday Did I break it in too hard? Sitting still (red light for example) Bike is hot..closed throttle, grab throttle and twist...small "hiccup" hesitates, then VROOM. Also lots of pooping from exhuast on decel, just wondering if its all normal? DaveS - I will call on Tues! |

TPS? Mine did the same when new. Reset Tps and was better but not perfect. Helps to roll on throttle rather than goose it. |

Congrats! I had to chuckle when you said no pain in hips. That's exactly why I stopped riding my Sporty. My hips are bad from running a tamping plate these last 15 years & I couldn't go more than 20 miles on the Sporty before they started aching bad. On my 12S, I can go all day with not so much as a twinge. I'm glad to hear you're liking her. She'll get even better with more miles. |

Bike is hot..closed throttle, grab throttle and twist...small "hiccup" hesitates, then VROOM. Also lots of pooping from exhuast on decel, just wondering if its all normal? Yes, all normal. Not good to blip the throttle from idle on the fuel-injected XB, it seems to upset the ecm. WOT at revs and after gear changes no prob, but they don't like it with the bike standing still. |

Edm - Congratulations!! As you become more familiar with your bike, you're gonna find out just how much fun these bikes are. The EFI likes you to "roll" the throttle. When you whack the throttle, the computer needs a moment to figure out where the throttle is (TPS), the engine temp, all the sensors, etc... Ya, I know it's a blink of an eye, but that's all it takes. Like everyone else has said, they don't like throttle blips from idle. (Message edited by Tunes on August 22, 2005) |

Love my new corbin, you have many choices of leather and texture too. The fit was terrible though, had to shave down some of the rubber bumpers, easily done with razor. Extra padding in the back helps give bike a fatter longer look and gives your lower back a place to rest while riding. |
