Can anyone tell me if I have to remove the control module as well as the cable that connects to the stock muffler when installing a race muffler? The cable connects to some module then runs down to the muffler. Do I leave the module plugged in and just take off the cable? There are no instructions on what to do with it from the race muffler manufacture Co. Any input would be appreciated. |

I haven't done this, but if you aren't replacing the ECM as well, I believe that you should leave the module connected. The stock ECM apparently doesn't function correctly without that module installed. (Message edited by davefla on August 18, 2005) |

I think Darkhorse moto has the accessory plug for like 27$ that will allow you to run the factory ecm, WITHOUT the servo that controls the exhaust. Dont' quote me on price.. been drinkinging. |

I do have the race ECM installed as well. Does that mean I can disconnect that module and do without it? |

I just left the module in place and removed the cable. With the race ECM, you can remove the module and cable all together if you want. Without the race ECM I believe you would get the check engine light if the module was disconnected. Rob |

Hd_, if you have the race ecm you don't need the actuator or cable, but it won't hurt leaving it there either. If you leave the cable there, at least zip-tie a small plastic bag over the muffler end of the cable to preserve it. If you want to remove the whole lot for good then go for it, no probs. Be patient when removing the cable, it's a tight fit in a certain area. |

We have the electronic gizmo that you can replace the whole actuator motor with to fool the ECM into thinking it is still there. Just a straight plug and play thing with no installation hassle. Price to the US would be approximately US$42 inc shipping. |

Trojan, What do the 2 wires connect to? I'm running a home-built gizmo and it only needs an earth wire if plugged in at the actuator sub-harness connector, or no external wires if plugged in at the actuator connector. Just curious. Good to see someone finally came out with the product, it was a hole just begging to be filled. (Message edited by opto on August 20, 2005) |
