Road thing, You profitering Basatard.... Oil company profits are at an all time high. Anyone owning stock in an oil company is also a profitering bastard....... I have seen firsthand the results of rising gas prices and how it affects the less affluent Americans. Wealthy people can easily afford to continue to drive big trucks as the price of gas and three trips to Starbucks a day make little difference on the whole. The working blue collar middle class is getting hammered. BTW nothing personal you are likely a very nice guy. I just get annoyed that most of America has a lousy public transportation system and most of us are forced to change our lifstyle due to being forced to use our own cars and trucks. |

LOL boy that flaming did not take to long! But hey what can I say? Most of the people in my industry are some of the first people to see harder times when gas prices soar. Our flying site is 70 miles East of Los Angeles and when gas hit $2.00 the number of people flying on a regular basis cut in half. At nearly $3.00 it has cut about 70% out of the regular crowd. My business has been halved since gas prices went way up. My competitors are not doing very well either. Most of our customers drive 4x4's........ |

my industry is probaly hit harder than yours. sold my kenworth.trucking runs on diesel.and with all the pick ups,and car running it makes it more expinsive.i buy over 300.00 worth of fuel every day to do my run.my advise is ride ur bike more and enjoy the ride.cause u can complain all u want. till the comsumption goes down prices will stay high.no point getting bent out of shape over something we will never control. yep it sucks but prices always go up.we need more production here. |

"BTW nothing personal you are likely a very nice guy. Am I being "forced to change my lifestyle?" I thought I was guaranteed that my lifestyle wouldn't EVER have to change! Grow up! There are BILLIONS of folks on earth that desire to purchase oil based products. They are all voting on what products based on price. They ALL make trade offs based on price EVERYDAY for all kinds of products and services! You too! Stop whinning! Cheez! |

Casual observation on my part. Apologies to RoadThing for putting him in the impact zone. "You profiteering(sp) Basatard (sp)" ???? I say "Entrepreneurial Capitalist" is a much more accurate description. G2 (Message edited by bigdaddy on August 20, 2005) |

...You profitering Basatard.... Oil company profits are at an all time high. Anyone owning stock in an oil company is also a profitering bastard....... Welcome to Capitalism. If the company you work for doesn't make a profit, you will be looking for work soon. If you're so pissed off at oil company profits, stop buying gas, that'll teach 'em. Lets move on. Drive less or get a different vehicle. Adapt, that is what we humans do best. Ditto. Live closer to where you work. Drive a more fuel efficient vehicle. Get over it. |

wow you guys are easy! Sorry but I got tired of waiting for the icons to download. Everything I said was with a smile on my face. Yes my busniness is hurting because of rising gas prices. Yes EVERYONE will pay the price. Higher trucking costs, higher entertainment costs etc. etc. I pass along the higher costs to my customers as does the rest of America. Fewer customers true but it gives me more time to RIDE! |

Hey Skyguy get DSL or cable modem and you wouldn't have to wait. On second thought maybe you could not highspeed because of the high cost of fuel? |

Im telling you now, oil can be had for 30 dollars a barrel if the US would SACK UP! We bleed our resources dry helping other countries as they bend us over for oil? TAKE IT! WE ARE ALREADY THERE! If this is too much for you to stomach than keep paying the price and shut the F*CK UP! Just a little news flash for the liberals, if you think the world will start disliking us for being US guess what? They already hate us! Before you start getting all froggy with my views you should know that I am a 4th generation military man with a Ranger tab and my son is currently serving in Iraq with a Special Ops unit. This does not make me right but it might help you understand my paradygm If they would just let me run the joint...... |

Sadly I have DSL.... It is the worst connection I have ever had the privlage to pay for. I am with Tahoe. We are occupying a country with huge oil resources yet our price per barrel is higher than ever. Now it looks like we are planning for another four years in Iraq. Then off to Iran. Where are the reparations (read oil) for being forced to spend 100 billion a year trying to stabilize their country? Personally I smell a skunk. As for demand increasing price BULLPUCKY! Walmat has lower prices than anywhere.... All distributers of consumer goods offer discounts for larger orders.... Large orders require a demand.... The U.S. is the largest consumer of energy hence our prices for energy purchased should be lower, not higher. I wish Americans had enough nads to not purchase ANY gasoline for a week. Our forefathers are likely wondering what they died for....... Tahoe I wish we would pull out of Iraq yesterday (especially with the lack of "reparations" I do however wish your son the best tell him thanks for me. |

I'm on Roadthings side , I work in the industry as well ,the civilians amongst us are obviously paying more for their gas at the pump ....but drum roll.... we are also paying more for the raw material , the crude ! ..we are not going to give gas away to you ,we need to make a living too..... ...and a very good one it is too..hahhaa |

Funny how that works, ain't it? When your raw material costs more, your finished product price goes up. Basic business math. Where were all the oil industry critics in the late '80's when half a million jobs were lost due to the last price crash? Crude prices plummeted, gas prices dropped, and a lot of oil and gas people were out of work, never to return to the industry. Just like now, it was supply and demand. source: http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/chron.html rttpb edited to add: In support of my credentials as a profiteering bastard, please note that I joined the industry in 1973. Blame it all on me! If I hadn't come along, you'd still be buying high test for $.29 a gallon! (Message edited by road_thing on August 23, 2005) |

Kinda sounds like the state of tool and die/moldmaking industry in the US of A right now. Our raw material prices go up(Tool steel has gone up 35% in the past 8 months), and guess what? Our customers want us to lower prices even more! To compete with China, Taiwan and Eastern Europe is tough. But we can't raise our prices because of "concerns" that there is a raw material shortages. Or "Concerns" about mid east relations, etc... The funny thing is, with our vendors, they don't raise their prices. They just add extra "surcharges" to the bill now... LOL! Right now, a Mold we made in 1998 will go for about 50%-60% less right now. Even though *EVERYTHING* else is more expensive. |
