The odd thing is that I wasn't really reefing on it when it snapped...was just snugging it up before I reached for the torque wrench... |

Sorry, had to run to get lunch. Fullpower, you are correct!!! So with Dave on vaca I was able to have Michelle help me out and track down the one dealer in the NATION that had it in stock. I used this to get the leftover part out: The interesting thing is that the part number was superceded with a newer part...which is THICKER!

I was getting worried. Thankfully I use lots of anti-seize when putting stuff like that in and it came right out...with the right EX5 bit it took a whopping 10 seconds. |

OBOY i win....( i almost never win anything, but when i do its a great big deal) champagne all around. lets all take the day off. " just snugging it up" implies that it was already cracked or broken? did you see evidence of an old fault, ie corrosion in the break-zone? is it stainless steel? are you going to weld it back up for a spare? |

That's the part that made me wonder. I am a big boy, and my snugging it up may be a little tighter than it should have been. The inside of the shaft is very white with bits of rust spots on it? I'll try to take closeups of the inside of it. I didn't notice anything before I put it in, though (no crack, etc). It was only around $30 - I don't plan on welding it (nor do I have a welder to do so with). |

Maybe "torque it once and then toss it" is going to have to apply to fasteners other than just the muffler bands & clamps... |
