Can the 03 belt guards be retained? I rather like them better... |

Midknyte, dont see why not, the only difference that I know of is the pitch difference..11mm for the 03, vice 14mm for tuber, and 04&up XBs, though I could be wrong.... Chase |

No, you have to trash the 03 guards. I had this conversation with Daves yesterday. |

While the final drive ratio of the 04 vs 03 belt drives is almost exactly the same (within .01), the pulley diameters are quite different. The 14mm pitch tooth pulleys are quite a bit larger, which puts the belt in a very different location. The 03 guards practically encase the belt, and they would clearly interfere with the 04 belt position. Even the front pulley guard is quite a bit different. You don't want to keep them anyway. The rear wheel removal procedures with the 04 belt and guards make the rear wheel removal quite easy, but it's a PITA on the 03 with the guards. Upgrade to the 04 guards, or put the CF equivalents on (that's unsprung mass), when you do the belt conversion. The price of our conversion kit (17082) is 10% off Buell MSRP. Your list was almost complete, Lucas, but you left off the pulley bolts. Really should use new ones. Our kit includes the chrome ones since we include the diamond highlight sprocket instead of the stock black one. I can get the stock black pulley, but it costs more than the diamond Highlight (??), at least for now. Al |

I think you also need a new front pulley guard. As always, 10% off retail on whatever you need. |

PS, to me it's not worth the money time and work. Just get the newest version of the 03 belt and go ride. |

Lucas, Is the belt# G0500.1AAE belt the '06 belt# then? If so that is what Dave sent me and so far it works awsome. |
