Does anyone else have a problem with the gear shift lever /footpeg placement(i.e. do the two of them feel too close together)? I'm finding it difficult to shift gears without having to take my foot kinda far off the peg to downshift. If so, does switiching to rear set footpegs solve that problem?

No problem here. I wear size 12 shoes. How thick are your riding boots?

Not thick enough to cause a problem. On my last bike (yamaha sportbike), I was able to pivot on my heel to up and down shift. It seems quite a bit more difficult.

Have you thought about reversing the pattern...you know, one up four down. That may be more work than it's worth though. I guess I'd try the rear sets first.
