Hi Everyone, I need to replace the shifter output seal (leaking) so I bought a primary cover gasket and a new seal. I would like to install them but I do not have a manual and could not find a good answer in the archives. What do I do with the clutch cable? Can I pull the primary without removing it? Any help/instructions would be really apreciated. Thanks |

I recommend the service and parts manuals. If your gonna do this work you'll do other work on your bike. Daves can send them right to your house w/ a 10% discount. See sponser section for Appleton HD. |

Skyguy, you can indeed pull the cover without removing the clutch cable...However, you must unhook it from the clutch lever inside the case. Pretty simple unless you're replacing the cover as I did. Reinstalling the cover requires a new gasket and proper torquing order of the bolts. Please advise someone when you are gonna do this. not flaming you but, I would get the service book asap. It is pretty informative. |

Tim the correct torque settings are as follows on the clutch inseption cover 84-108 in-lbs and 9.5-12.2 Nm The primary cover fasteners are 80-110 in-lbs and 9-12.4 Nm. Ihope that this pic is clear enough for you to see the order. I must say you should get a manual. It's worth it!
