So tonight I peeled the "American Motorcycles" sticker off my airbox cover, on a black '04 XB12s. I think this made a huge difference in the overall look of the bike. It was much more sinister attitude . Came right off and a little Goo-Be-Gone cleaned up the residue. I didn't like it at all.. it made the bike feel like it was trying to defend its cool unique personality by being "American". I mean after all, Hondas don't say Japanese Motorcycles on the tanks. I love the fact that it's American but it wasn't my buying point for the bike. |

I pulled all the decals (every one) off my bike. No identification on the tank or frame. I'll probably rue the day I did it if I keep my bike long enough to be a collectors item, but I like it now. |

while you wont have to defend the bikes origin, you'll probably get questions/comments about your french bike ! - Buell' |

Same here. The only stickers left are the BUELL letters on the tank. The American Motorcycle was just too big with that large, stretched oval. If it had just been the letters, I would have been ok with it. As for the Firebolt decals, I had no choice. I replaced all of my blue XB9R plastic with black XB12R plastic. Certainly didn't want to fool people into thinking it was something it wasn't (like putting V8 emblems on your V6). |

I also took off the factory decals, and had my own design made. |

Are those "Harley" Buell labels legal? Looks a bit close too the Harley symbol. Looks cool, wonder what Erik would say!! I guess it's one way to let those Harley guys know it's related to their bike. |

>>>>wonder what Erik would say!! He'd puke. Few things him off more than defaced Buell logos. Why not, while you are at it, put a FORD oval on it...I mean they are much bigger than HD and a part of the corporate alliance. But what do I know, I just plasted a TIMEX logo on my Rolex.

I love the logo's on my bike, eavesdropping on people trying to pronounce it, man and when they read American Motorcycle, you should see the expressions...nope i love my bike's heritage and I do not want it to pretend to be anything else except a Buell !! |

i don't like logo's on anything - personal preference. but that is not the same as being ashamed of the brand. everywhere I go people want to know about the bike. "is that a ducatti?" "why is the gas tank plastic?" etc. i'm proud as hell and i tell them as much as i can - and show off the frame-fuel, swing-oil, under-exhaust, short wheelbase, belt drive, aesthetic beauty, etc. Then I write down the buell name on matchbooks, napkins, whetever. "go to the website" i say, and watch Erik talk about his philosophy on bikes. after a group ride in the bear mountain/harriman twisties, i had everyone wanting to try my bike. they couldn't figure out how much faster and confident i am compared to my old bike. in fact, no one could keep up, and they were on modern ducatti's and kawasakis. so what's my point? i don't know. just felt like blabbing and pointing out, once again, that when it comes to drivability and owner pride, BUELL's RULE. word is spreading ... |

I left all the Buell decals and added some HD decals on the frame rails. Red and gold ones to match my bike. They are great attention getters! I also am running a D&D so the sound is there too. People come up all the time and say "thats a Harley?". I tell them yes in a way. HD owns Buell and it gives me the chance to tell them about Buell and the fact that it is the best bike I have ever owned. Who knows maybe I can convert them into our sick little family. They really flip when I tell them it's 1200cc, with it being so compact. Then I explain about the frame, swingarm, pipe and front brake. 90% of the time they are very impressed. So the way I figure it one more person has been exposed to Buells. Not a bad thing, huh? Art |

I would never plaster the HD logo on my bike! Ford owns Jaguar, but you don't see Jaguars with Ford emblems on them! If you want a Harley, ride a Harley, but a Buell is not the same thing! I agree with Monorad. I want as many people as possible to recognize my Buell, because everyone who sees it loves it (even though most only see it from behind ) Edit: I did take the stupid little lightning sticker off the mini-fairing of my XB9S, though. Much cleaner. It was hard to read and did nothing for the bike. (Message edited by yahooboy on July 27, 2005) |

I'm thinking of taking off the raised stickers on the tank and putting on some flat ones. It's a real pain to clean the wax off from around those letters! |
