Hello All, I found this site from advriders.com. Just wanted to say hello and to warn you I hope to pick your brains on Buell topics. A little info on me. I have 2 Harleys, a 2003 FLTRI and an 2005 FXSTB. I'm interesting in the new XB12X. From pics it looks comfortable, can take hard cases and it's very light (compared to my current rides). I think it would make a great commuter/motorcycle camping bike. Cheers, Joe |

Joel, I too have two Harleys (95" HTCC Electraglide and a 1964 Panhead) and a XB12s. Been riding Harleys all of my life, just got the Buell last year. I can honestly say that riding the Buell is more fun than stomping baby ducks. I only take the Electraglide out when I take my ball and chain (wife). There are a few Harley riders on this post, most likely more than will admit. Welcome Ed |

Tahoe, I bought my 12S when I retired from the Army last year and have not rode my '83 Wideglide since. In fact, I'm getting ready to repaint it and sell it...... |

Thanks Guys. Ed, Yea, the Road Glide has a stage I 95" kit and it scoots along pretty good. Thinking of adding gear drive cams and ported heads at some point. A '64 Pan? Cool! All, I like to do my own maintenance and have a Handy SAM 1000 lift. It works fine for the big bikes. I'm wondering if anyone has a similiar lift and uses it to service a Buell? Mainly removing and/orchanging tires/wheels? Thanks, Joe |

Check out this thread for your most cost effective lift for getting both wheels in the air: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/122261.html |

Joe: I had 9 bikes....mostly Sportsters (including an XR-1000, XLCR) an FLHTC and a Low Rider Custom. I bought a Buell in 1990 and have never bought another Harley-Davidson. But I like them alot.

Welcome 2hogs, out of curiosity, what's the buzz over on the advriders.com site about the XB12X? |

From what I've read, it has it's fair share of fans and naysayers. Some want a 19" or bigger wheel. A few are giving it serious consideration. Getting a few of the same old uninformed "Buells are Crap" posts too, from guys that have never owned them of course. "My uncle's cousins friend had a broken Buell once..." |

All, Thanks for the welcome. I'll probably sell the 2005 Night Train, if I like the XB12X after a test ride. Don't think I'll ever sell the Road Glide as I like riding that more than the FXSTB and the Glide a 100yr anniversary bike. Cataract2, Lots of negative stuff on advrider on the XB12X (why I came over here), some positive, but I think folks over there were expecting an adventure bike that was more "off-road" oriented. I myself kinda like most aspects of the XB12X. The more I think about wheel sizes the more it makes sense. You have a huge tire base to choose from if you don't do alot of dirt riding, and it looks comfortable to boot. Throw on hard cases and you're ready to wander the country (improved roads)!!!!! I just gotta see if my short legs (31" inseam) can touch the ground :-) Cheers, Joe (Message edited by 2hogs+ on July 24, 2005) |

Dont' tell me, the naysayers at advrider didn't just take my word on the Buell discussion? Nah, can't be. Welcome, and I am thinking very much as you are about the camping thing. I cannot imagine ever having to pack light on the Ulysses. I could bring two sofas! Inside joke you can understand if you read this. Hey, no tank bag even! |

Blake, Yea they are like a bunch of kids that just heard there is no Santa Claus. They just cover their ears and ignore everything. Most of my weekend/week+ trips involve camping. I did a 2 week 5K mile trip in 2003 on my Road Glide and it was a learning experience. Thus my interest in the XB12X, with 3 hard cases, it could carry almost as much as the Glide and go down those forest roads with less drama :-) Can Mr. Buell please get them out to dealers ASAP? Cheers, Joe |
