I installed a K&N filter on my XB12R. The bike seemed to start up fine that night after the install as I moved it into the garage for the night. The next day I go to ride and I'm only running on the rear cylinder only. What the heck did I do?I got spark but cylinder is not firing. Any info would be helpful, thanks. |

When an XB overheats (or the ECM thinks it is overheating) it goes into skip spark mode and drops a cylinder. Maybe something happened to a sensor wire when you changed filters? That's about the extent of my knowledge as to what might have happened...sorry. |

This happened to me. I have had problems with the efi injectors clogging. Buy some chevron techroline injector cleaner and add to fuel. It should take care of the problem. The filter was probably just a coincidence. .02 Ed |

RTM... Don't add injector cleaner. Check your plug first. Then take it for service if that's not it. |

I added the fuel injector cleaner per my local buell service department. Note Charlieboy is running those 25 dollar plugs, I am just running stock plugs. Also, I only take my bike in when I absolutely have to. I dont feel the need to pay the price for something I can do myself. If you are not confident in your abilities, if you have a fat wad in your wallet, take it in. Ed |

I read his post and It says " I got spark but cylinder is not firing". In my experience a fouled plug wont spark. He says it has spark? Am I missing something? |

I think it may be the plug. You can see spark when there is no compression (plug laying on the head) if the plug is mildly fouled. Compression makes it tougher to jump the gap. Clean the contacts with 400 grit, clean it up well, pop it in, and hopefully you will be off and running. Iridiums ($6) seem to have helped me in that dept., I'll know next winter for sure. |

cool, learn something every day. I thought those plugs were much more. Are they the ones sold on the Buell website? Do they make a difference? I have had problems with my injectors clogging that my dealer says is common. Anyone else have problems with injectors? Ed |

No injector problems here. I bought my iridium NGKs off the web, but could have saved on shipping if I'd ordered through a local parts store. I can't remember the numbers, but do some searches, there are plenty of posts. The only confusing thing is that the US part numbers are different for NGK than for other countries, so make sure you check the origin of the posters. |

Tahoe. Yea the plugs really don't cost that much. Helpful>>> clubplug.com if your local parts shops don't carry them, as mine didn't. Yea, that's all I meant by my post was to go ahead and clean it first before spending $$$. Worth the try... |

They seem to help with fouling problems. I wouldn't expect more performance. |

I've only ever had success with NGK plugs in my S1W. I've tried Champion, Buell, HD, Splitfire and Accel and they've all fouled after not a lot of use \ mileage. I've not tried the iridium type but then again why spend the extra when NGK DPREA9 do the job. Like Spatten said, and how refreshing it is to see too that someone has the sense to say so when it comes to spark plug talk in relation to engine power. I WOULDN'T EXPECT MORE PERFORMANCE. Well nor would I. Rocket |

Believe it or not,a new plug fixed the problem. I had a hard time believing it would be a plug only because the bike only has 800 miles on it and it's only 2 months old. After checking everything else, that was the only thing left. Thank you everyone for all your help. It's good to be able to turn somewhere other than a dealership for help. |
