yEA i AM BACK FOLKS... and if they gonna kick me out then that's their problem ! i think carbon fibre is ugly, overpriced, stupid, waste of money, impractical, useless Price: $349.95 <_---found that price on a " certain website " for carbon fibre for a xb buell. what's wrong with stock? Two tires run over 200 dollars just to keep the thing on the road. Not all of us that ride a Buell have endless supplies of cash to buy every thing that the so-called nice people out here tell you to buy. I'm tired of people telling me what to buy and what not to buy for MY Buell. NOT YOURS! So go on spend Price: $349.95 for carbon something or other and it will look like *&^% ! carbon fiber is just that *&^%! is this kick out-able? they gonna kick me out for THAT? |

so if carbon fibre is that bad, then why are you showing your ar5e end and complaining about the cost? No one is telling you to buy it, I don't see someone holding a gun to your head. If they kick you, I think it will be more along the lines of Darwinism at work. |

I think the carbon fiber trend is pretty ridiculous too. $$$! So I don't buy it. (Message edited by 45_degrees on July 22, 2005) |

I would like to see aftermarket companies making more affordable plastic (and not fiberglass) upgrade items such as the fenders, etc. It would be nice if there was a plastic replacement for the rear hugger that was considerably longer and a plastic front fender that extended farther down to help protect the engine more. Kinda sucks when all that is available is carbon fiber stuff. Especially when they don't provide any real benefit. Flyscreen options are slim too. Is this what your complaint is really about... lack of more affordable accessories? |

Wow. GO BUY CARBON WARREN!!! NOW!!! GO!!! DO IT DAMNIT DO IT!!! Carbon Fiber products (the good stuff) is very expensive to produce. Sure, you can certainly put two lairs of cheap mesh in between a bunch of resin and call it CF, but it really defeats the purpose. The purpose of CF is not to look good (I can't really stand the look of it myself) but to be VERY LIGHT and VERY STRONG. NOW GO BUY SOME DAMNIT! "i think carbon fibre is ugly, overpriced, stupid, waste of money, impractical, useless " Well, you got one out of six... CF is somewhat impractical depending on the application. On the street it's no more than bling. The CF bodywork of the LMP cars is said to cost nearly $100K per set... F1... yeah... a LOT more . "what's wrong with stock? " Nothing really... It's actually a brilliant design decision. That stuff polishes extremely easily and you can buff out HUGE scratches from what I'm told. It can be dye'd or painted to great effect and it's VERY durable. Excellent choice of materials if you ask me . "is this kick out-able? " That's a good question . |

I like my carbon fiber. Personally I don't like polishing the frame and that my friend is what you call a choice. You have a choice to buy it or not. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Enough said. Semper Fi |

Onebuell, your like those people that want someone like howard stern off the air. even though they don't listen to the show, they don't want others listening either. your like a nazi about the carbon fiber issue. IF YOU DON'T LIKE, DON'T BUY...simple, big FAT period. Remember, "It's a free country brother" |

M1 is on the money so to speak. Cf is expensive to fabricate for several reasons. The actual material is some what cheap. It's what goes into making it that gets pricey. You see, you must make a mold of the piece you want to fabricate. You can copy OEM or make a 1 off mold. Either way if you are going to make more than one part it must be casted in a alloy so multiple pieces can be fabricated without damage to the original. This = $$$$ Now lets look at Buells. Numbers compared to Metric and very small. So if you are someone selling Cf for Buells, your sales #s will be small. You have to offset your tooling cost and fabrication by selling your CF a what OneBuell calls "expensive". I'm not saying the prices are not high but it is for a reason.....that is if it is good quality. You get what you pay for. Just ask anyone that has bought that crappy stuff on Ebay. Have a talk with Al at American Sport Bike. He can show you the CF light. As for not practical.....couldn't be more wrong. Yes, I agree that some is useless but if it is used in the way it was intended then CF is cost effective. Weight savings. I didn't like the cost either so I fabricated it myself. I replaced all my OEM black plastic with CF. I shaved over 8lbs off the weight of my XB9. I weighed the plastic pieces that I took off and it was just over 10lbs. Look at my profile pic and mods . Onebuell...no one is making you buy it, just keep your stock and don't be a CF hater |

Onebuell, I'm just glad that we have choices for our Buells. No one is forcing you to buy CF parts. You can buy whatever parts you want. Unless you are easily swayed toward purchasing CF why are you so upset. If someone has an opinion it's just that: Their opinion. You are free to do what you want to your Buell. |

Actually the raw materials that make up carbon fiber are expensive because they are not mass produced as such. You think it's expensive now? Well it's gonna get worse according to rumour. Boeing are buying up the words stock of cf materials in order to build a large new plane. That means there isn't enough to go around unless you're prepared to pay mucho more coinorooney!!! For those of you that think cf is bling on a street bike you've obviously never felt the gain of riding on Dymags. I dig my carbon. Makes me look rich when I roll up next to all those alloy wheeled monstrosities I'm the carbon king of the castle you durty likle rascal....... Rocket |

Tough to knock CF when much of the stealth bomber, the baddest aircraft in the sky, is comprised of it. And virtually all of the top line sporting equipment these days makes serious use of CF. And the highest tech spacecraft, some now traversing the surface of Mars, rely on the superior structural properties of CF. The baddest, most powerful, fastest racing machines like Formula One cars and MotoGP bikes make prodigious use of CF. Yeah, who would want that kind of crap on their motorcycle. Jackass. |

You know I think I know what onebutts problem is!! His brain has been rattled around so much riding 92,000 miles that his mouth don't know when to stop. I mean it is that or he is just not smart enough to figure out that this course of action will end with him being removed from the board. Or the next excuse is he has been trolling around for 92,000 miles and is trying to make it an even 100,000. |

Just a thought... Is it called trolling because usually said posts are "gruff" ( you Troll ) or is it more like fishing? To lazy to cast and reel so you just dangle your worm for anything willing to nibble on it?!?

I shaved over 8lbs off the weight of my XB9. M1 has it correct when he stated most of the carbon is bling. Sportbikers version of chrome is what it amounts to. If you like it..hey great & more power to you. But if you really want your bike to go faster, drop the double cheeseburger & triple thick shake & lose some pounds. Free hp is the best hp. |
