Well my GF just got done taking the MSF course & bought a used Ninja 250 as her first bike. Well I was stopping off at the dealer where I bought my bike today & we stopped at the used bikes first. They have a Ducati Monster 620. She took it out for a ride and ddin't really like it. So we left and went over to my house where her bike was parked at. Today was her first time out on the interstate. So we rode a little way & then stopped for Starbucks coffee. After we started riding again I started thinking about where there might be a large parking lot. Well I pulled off at the local mall at around 20:30 so the lot was pretty empty. I got off my SX and told her to turn her Ninja off. Then I told her that if she wanted to feel what nice smooth power felt like she should ride my bike. So she did around the parking lot for about 10 minutes. The she tells me she wants to ride it on the road. I said okay. So I hop on her bike and we take off. She rode my bike back to her apartment and she is now hooked. She wants a Buell!!! Well really she wants mine! Because I have the SL seat on my SX she can get her feet on ground. So it looks like I might have to go buy myself a new bike so she can have mine. Now the question is do I wait to see what this Adventure bike is all about or just get the Firebolt that I like too??? |

Awesome story!!! And good on ya for trusting a "new" rider to take your bike for a spin. That can go a long ways toward building confidence. No way would I be able to do that with my baby!!(unless I had a few and tried to prove a point or something). tank p.s. I do not mix bikes and booze. |

My wife has a Ducati Monster 750. After riding my Firebolt, she is now considering trading her bike in for a 9S that our local dealer has. She really got serious about it after test riding it one day. At least she doesn't want mine, which is too tall for her. Every once in a while we do trade off just so I can hot rod her bike because she never does. It's funny how some people get hooked after riding a Buell. |

I don't think it's funny. My gf is about to dump me cause all I do when I'm not working is ride the Buell or talk about the Buell or work on the Buell or stare at the Buell etc... Ok, it is funny |

Metalstorm, Hehe, Sorry dude about the GF. I have had a few leave me but it was cause of my Jeep. Well we went to look at the Firebolt today. It is one of the white 2003 models. God I love the way it looks. It still has the Dunlop tires on it and I see what everyone means about how different the bike handles with those tires. We are for sure waiting until after this weekend to see what the new bikes are. Question for all the Firebolts, How many of you have changed out the bars for ones that are a little taller? Does the touring seats work for longer rides? What tires are you running? What can everyone tell me about the 2003 Firebolts? What issues do they have compared to the 2005 SX? Yep sometime in the next 6months we will both be riding Buells that is for sure. And if she has her way she'll be on my SX. |

My wife ended up getting a 12Scg and I can't get her off it. She's 5'5" and is flat footed on it. About the only other bike she was able to do that on is the Monster 750. I'm glad she got the Buell instead! |

I can't seem to get my wife on a bike. At 16 she rode with a boyfriend on his and he scared her badly. Right now I'm trying to get her to take the MSF course and then decide if motorcycling is for her. I think if she's in control it will change her perspective. In this case I would love to create a monster. |

Buy or keep the bike/s you like. You can easily find another wife/girlfriend, what are the chances you'll find another pristine S1W or Shovelhead, ect? The others, they make millions of them new every day! |

Koz...That's funny. Especially when I flash back and realize that neither of my Ex's left when the balance sheet was in the red. Seems both bought in at the mid point, rode the rollercoaster and sold high. LOL Did you know that the California High Schools stopped teaching Home Economics almost 20 years ago and replaced it with "Marriage for Fun and Profit?" Heck, I believe that is now a Major in the two year colleges out the there and qualifies for an Associates Degree. LMAO...Just kidding, but it sure seemed real at the time. |

I have a 03 XB9R with heli bars, Buell touring seat, lower XB9S foot pegs, Buell touring grips, and Double Bubble windscreen. I am 6 foot. Just got back from a 525 mile trip to Deals Gap which I took this past Sunday-Monday. I am very pleased with the touring capacity of this set up. Was in the saddle 3 hours the first day (3pm-6pm) and 10 hours from 8AM to 6:30PM the second day. I have heli bars and a corbin seat on my R1. In June I did weeks trip on it of 2,400 miles. I like the corbin seat on my R1 better than the Buell Touring seat on my XB9R. But the Buell touring seat is definitely better than the stock seat, and as noted, was able to do 10 hours of riding on it with no complaints. |

Rick, Had no idea our seat swap would lead to a BIKE swap! Funny how that works out, since I bought the XB9SL for my wife as 1st bike, now making it fit me better as track bike. Go for the 2nd Buell, and then you can BOTH buzz down here for a ride! (my wife will be the oddball on her Beemer) Mark |

Wildman, I proudly have an 03 white firebolt and havn't had problem one! Bought it used. I love the Pirelli Diablos. The various tires will have a drastic effect on handling. I've only tried the Diablos cuz I loved em after switching from the stock Dunlaps. I'm 6'4" and found the "S" pegs on the R helped out there greatly! I've had some 1300 mi. weekends on my bolt and while I wouldn't say I was comfortable, I'd do it again; because the roads we traveled to were "BUELL FRIENDLY!" |

"Just stay in debt! IF they got no money to take, they can't afford to leave!!! ha ha ha" LOL Gee, I guess I'm never getting rid of her then The GF's best friend stood up for me today. She told the GF that at least I'm cheating on her with a bike and not with another woman. This improved her attitude a bit. Hopefully it will last through the weekend so I can ride, ride, ride all day & not be afraid to come home.

"Just stay in debt! IF they got no money to take, they can't afford to leave!!! ha ha ha" Yeah, no kidding. Is 50/50 on both the assets and liabilities unless you really messed up. Not too many want to leave if they owe money and won't end up in the black. LOL |

good for ou for convincing a newbie into taking the MSF course (it's far from great, but it's the best available, so far as I know) if someone doesn't want to ride (either in front or in back), I think it's a mistake to push em -- they won't enjoy themselves, it's an expensive invenstment potentially lost, and, goodness knows, there's a buncha bad riders out there the line between encouragement and pushing varies, clearly, with the folks involved -- good luck, no matter which way it turns out |

Well we are waiting until the new bikes come out before we decide anything. Plus my GF is in school for 6 more months and then will have her RN status. She says when that happens she is going to buy me a NEW bike and she will take my SX. So I'm game. It's a win win situation. She is pretty much sold on Buells now. |

Well just to answer the question. Nope I don't think I'll be getting a Firebolt, I am pretty sure I'll be riding a Ulysses next year. I just got done playing on the Buell site for about 30 minutes & I know where my money is going!!! |
