I know this has been mentioned a million times, but I don't have a ton of time to look through all the posts. My cooling fan isn't turning on and I checked the fuse...and switched it with the spare...nothing...I need help...I am leaving in a couple of days!!! Thanks!!!

For what it's worth:

I had a similar problem back in March/April, when the temps were mid-40's. The bike was a pain in the to start, a shaking mess once it was running, a total dog with no balls at all until after 3000 RPM (that's a real red flag on an XB12, eh?), kept stalling at idle, and city fuel economy was halved to about 20MPG. I could easily smell the unburned gas in the exhaust.

Also, the fan never came on, even after 15-minute warm-up rides at speeds ranging from 25 to 60 mph.

I had about 1500 miles and less than a year on it, so in to the dealer it went, and just as everybody else was pulling their scoots out of storage, too. They had it for five weeks. Experienced folks know the punchline: I'd opened the throttle to get the bike to start, several times, and thoroughly fouled the rear plug. The dealership insisted that I wasn't getting the rear plug warm enough to burn off deposits, and that the fan wasn't running because the head wasn't getting warm enough. Given how much fuel seemed to be dumping into that cylinder, I can accept that.

Don't know if that'll help you with your problem. But from now on, my bike either starts with no throttle and runs for at least 20 seconds, like the manual says, or it goes to the dealership for a TPS reset or whatever. Five weeks of spring is a lot to miss!
