Rode hard and then laid jacket on bike...bad Idea. So i've got this nice shiny ceramic coated header with some black spots on it. Is it possible to clean this off the header or do I need to have it re-coated? I tried carb-cleaner and that was a no-go. Any ideas?

I would try a rubbing compound - the kind you buy to take swirls off of clear coat paint.

You will not harm the coating. The coating is thicker then you think.Just enough to get the black dye off from your jacket. Then buff it out with your favorite polish.

Propane torch, heat until plastic and scrape off.

I think the grocery store sells some Oven off. The Harley guys use all the time to get melt stains off their chrome pipes.

I had this happen on my sportster. Just run the bike again until it gets real good and warmed up then take a cold wet rag and watch the stuff wash right off. Easy cleaning procedure!!

Thanks for the help, I'll try the cold water thing first and let you know which worked in the end.

I got lucky and it just melted the tag and zipper of the jacket, a local taylor is able to replace the zipper for about $50.

I did the same thing--coming from I4s, gotta get used to laying stuff over the seat, not the tank!

Anyways, once cool, the nylon (from my jacket liner only--whew!) just came off with a plastic scraper.

I'm not sure about the ceramic costing, but I've used Oven Cleaner (Easy-Off) on normal ss pipes.
