I had a few days to review the XB9R and I love the bike. I picked it up on Thursday and so far have logged about $400 miles. The bike has 1950 miles on it now and I would like to do a oil change on it. This may sound like a stupid questions but how do you do this? Is it similiar to changing the oil on my 84 Sporster? Also what kind of rear seat can I get for a passenger? I saw a site that I had a close out on the Buell "pillow" rear seat for $50 bux. Any ideas or thought on this? Any other service items I should change? Thanks Dan enjoying the buell. |

Dan.. Drain plug on left side of swingarm. put something over exhaust to keep it clean. remove front chin fairing for oil filter removal. Damn near same as sporty only different location to drain and fill actually cleaner, faster and easier than the sporty. as far as seat is concerned you have or should have the small pad that comes on the bike ( the cowling piece just pops on and off of it) if thats not good for you or your passenger go with a corbin if you can afford it but the "pillow" seat will work. Hell your not on the back anyway. Hope this helps a little |

Well my dealer doesn't even stock Buell parts didnt even have a oil filter. I ordered like 5 or 6 to have some in the garage. What kind of motor oil do you guys run in yours? When I bought it the guy said there was HD Synthetic in there now can I buy Mobil 1 oil to put in there or is the HD synthetic cheaper? Thanks Dan |

Oil filter I use a Fram dont remember part # oil question will kick off a whole lot of different responses here. Not to be rude but do a search on that one. By the way I'm using Mobil 1 and have no problems as are a few here. |

The Buell Touring Pillion seat is about as comfortable as you're gonna get on these machines. My wife has no complaints on rides through the Texas hill country... |

First of all please don't use a fram , thier poor design is well documented, but instead of having to stock pile them from the dealer go down to your autozone or whatever and get one of these (below) if you want to keep the stock black look get the bosch and pull the sticker off. Bosch 3311 Mobil 1 M1-103 K&N HP 100B STP 4967 AC Delco UPF 1233 As far as oil goes, my personal preference would be Amsoil MCT 20-50, Mobil vtwin |

Personal experience with Fram has been good despite what has been said. 73,000 on my sporty using them as well as proper maint. Cant and wont comment on the other filters listed as I havent used them obviously but I am curious as to why those 5. If they are that much better I may have to try one of them out but have yet to hear why them over the other. |

There has been several companies/people that have done comparisons. I will post a link to one of them. http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/ |
