The last three weeks I have been trying to hunt down a used 9r around my area. Until I thought about insurance, I had better look for it first. Good thing because now I dont know if I really want to pay this much just to ride for 4 or 5 months out of the year. I have a 2 year old little girl that requires lots of my time. At most I will put 2000 to 3000 miles a year. I am 26 and married only one speeding in the past 5 years, whats up with ins rates ??? Four years ago I got ins for a gsxr when I was 22 for 625.00 a year. How the hell did it go up as I got older and married, lowest I could find online was 740.00 a year. Any sugjestions would be great, I really want a 03 9r but if I cant get a good rate I will have to do without. Lots of other family and house issues to deal with, dont need to dump money on a isn policy. Also here in northern IN the bike will sit in the garage for about 5 months out of the year. Thanks for any replys guys |

call local Harley Dealer. They have insurance through Progressive and it seems to be a decent deal. I have USAA and no one can touch them but the dealer I bought at came close only 100 bucks more. Dont know much about west coast ins rates but here in NY and NJ we get killed. At your age House 2 cars 2 bikes 2300 a year.Keep looking my friend you'll find something. By the way check your driving abstract it may have something on it that isnt yours. Also if your credit rating is a little messed up that affects it now too. |

Call GEICO directly, their online quotes suck. |

Try Progressive Ins.online.I think it's progressive.com or something like that. You can enter your info and get a quote right then and there. Now I am a bit older than you and I live in N.H.,but I got everything but collision for under $300.00.It's worth a try! |

Cmm. check your coverages with USAA. they tried to up them when I added the Buell. It would have upped it $600. Once I corrected them it miraculously went back down to 175 yr. |

You can reduce your coverage to liability only, but max out the uninsured motorist coverage. I'm paying about $140 a year in NJ (insurance here is nuts!). The extra coverage for the hit-and-run cager is an extra $20 a year or so. Well worth it, in my opinion. |

I have State Farm. I've been with them for 15 years and have no problems on my record, so I get better rates than someone switching to them new. Anyway, I'm looking at less than $30/month and I carry high coverage. |

I go through Harley Davidson insurance. A division of HD insurance is a company called Dairyland insurance. It had the cheapest rates for me. The reason being is that they look at Buells the same way they look at as Harleys not as a sport bikes. My quote was $680 less per year through them than through Progressive. |

Sentry / Dairyland is the best I've seen - gets better if you are in BRAG and attend the Motorcycle Safety Class. |

Dairyland Insurance so far was the best for me. I've had three claims through them (only two were mine) and my renewal just came in the mail - $366 for the year. That's for my XB12R and her 92 BMW K75S. Full coverage for both. Definitely join BRAG and take the class - you get 10% off for each. Oh, and I'm 27, married... Dairyland was about the only company that would consider insuring me with a red hot driving record. |

I also use Dairyland. When I checked for different rates at renewal, nobody knew what an XB9S was. GEEZ! |

Some insurance companies will let you drop your coverage for six months a year through the winter. I have Allstate and they let you do that. I feel you on the only riding for 4 months a year. Chicago's coooolllllddddd! |

i am in Alaska, i ride every month. dont put on a bunch of miles, but can find some pavement close to sea level even in the winter months. Progressive are a bunch of dirt bags, will offer very attractive quote, then at renewal jack your rates. mine went up MORE THAN DOUBLE. state farm is cheep, but will fight you tooth and nail if you ever have an injury. if you dont have a REALLY aggresive cut throatburninhell type lawyer on retainer, then you are going to get anassfuckingon an insurance claim anyway, so may as well get the cheepest coverage you can find. i am currently with geico, who i am certain would good me a good screwing first chance they get, but the rate was pretty good. |

Dairyland is a SENTRY insurance company. Try: 1-800-3SENTRY (18003736879). Or check out the web site. Try Google-ing for 'dairyland insurance'. |

And Dairyland is great to deal with. I dumped mine on a Thursday. The adjuster was there the following Monday, and I think I had a check by the end of the week for the total (minus my $250 deductible). I bought all the parts, did the work myself, and used any extra cash to buy accessories. Can't beat that. |
