I just installed a new alarm on my bike. check it on www.asianwolf.com/motorcyclealarms.html
I currently own the x-1 version. Way too much to list here. For me the vibrating pager was the cool thing for times I'm in areas where I can't hear too well. Alarm is compact and will fit on a xb12r between the battery and storage box with no air between. See video: http://www.asianwolf.com/videolinks.html

I owned the Nady system that jcwhiney sells. which comes with a pager but only is a audible one only. I was unimpressed with it from day one.
What was was too cool about the new x-1 alarm was the first night I got it. It saved me and a friend(non-buell rider...tisk, tisk)from a parking ticket while out on the town. Check it out. I bought mine on ebay.
I'm not a salesman, just passing on the cool stuff.

How many of you have an alarm on your bike?? I keep going back and forth. You know what they say about car alarms, that they are worthless. Everyone ignores the sound now days. Maybe they are more of a deterrent on motorcycles. Please enlighten me!

1 beer 20min later. this is what my x-1 looked like. Plus I got a ticket for speeding that night afterward of course.

What did you mount that to the bolt with? Looks like a really cool system. It might be worth the money.

I bolted the siren to the bracket the battery strap latches to, and the brain mounts with 2 sided tape. System similar to scorpio, yet, alot cheaper. system sell on ebay for 160. told al from american sportbike to look into it. I still have to give him an update.

what made really bad was that I never found my guages...MIA!!! I had to buy a new key set. I'll make up for it one day, and I'll find someone messing with somebody's bike somewhere.
Surely things could of been worse, or even better. nevertheless it was a cheep lesson...I still have the bike

Alarms are worthless. The fact of the matter is that if someone wants what you have they will take no matter how many alarms you have on the thing. An experienced thief knows how to bypass the system and how to take care of the system in a limited amount of time. THATS WHAT INSURANCE IS FOR! Vandalism is just that vandalism and if someone walked by your bike and kicked it over and took off it does no good. The sensible thing is to park it in a highly visible place, if possible cable it to something and have good insurance. Thieves use skateboards to put under the front wheel of bike to roll them into a van, so in essence the steering lock is just another mechanism to deter. Read on the word "DETER". Thats all. In today's world the alarm goes off, people may notice it, the police get called, it goes through the 911 emergency channels and a squad is dispatched to investigate. With all that said you are looking at a minimum of 5-15 min. response time. Save your money. I've done plenty of theft reports for bikes and the alarm is just another gimmick that may or may not work. Plus when your in an urban area with all the radio signals bouncing off the buildings the remote sometimes does not work. Your friendly law enforcement authority in Chicago.

I'd have to agree with Mckenna to a certain extent. Against a professional thief, nothing will stop them from making off with the bike. Good advice above! But for the casual would be theif, an alarm can't hurt your chances!
Here's something to read.

I've been looking at pager alarms as well for one particular purpose - While I have no illusions that a pro wouldn't swipe my bike within seconds - when I'm touring, the pager would be nice addition to the chain and cover for the times when I can't park the bike right outside my window (or in the room ; ))

alarms are worthless...what ever!! Yes, if a thief want your it will be gone. atleast with a pager you have a chance to catch em in the act. alarms truely keep people honest. Let's talk both sides of the street. I used to be a thief, in fact, a really good one. I wouldn't steal your bike if it had a alarm, unless I felt it would be a good pay off, and then you'd be f@#$%#. But here in the Buell world we're more concerned with keeping people honest. Skateboard under the wheel...what ever. It's more like three guys picking up your bike and putting it in a van(mean while your alarm is paging you). I think my way is 50/50...yours is 0/100. I'll have my bike while you walk. Just check my picture out... that wasn't a three minute job. I'd of caught him. yes, the alarm has a silent mode. My thieving life is over, but I havent forgot.

I agree with roadrunner. The point is to be paged so you can catch the s.o.b. in the act and pulverize the mother for even thinking that he can pull such a stunt.God I hate thieves!!!!

The most I've ever done was use a disc lock on my rear rotor in combination with the front steering lock but it's really just to keep the "honest" ones away.

Happy 4th of July! (at least it still is on the west coast)

roadrunnerrv- I have to retort on your comments. Glad to hear about your brushes with the law. You stated yourself, "if you wanted the bike regardless of an alarm, you would take it and I would be F$%#@^!" So in essence the alarm is no good is what you are stating. My thinking is you can have the bike if you want it that bad and I will file a stolen vehicle report and the insurance company will compensate the loss of the bike by replacing it after a month with whatever clauses I have in the contract for mods made to the bike as well. After a thief takes a bike, seriously do you really want it back after it has been trashed to the gills and left abandoned? You feel violated and vulnerable. I would rather have the insurance money and start from scratch again. If someone is working on the bike how fast can you respond to the pager before 3 guys lift that motorcycle into a van. You yourself stated that your that good. If you get on-scene what are you going to do? Go to bat for the property unarmed and hope that you come out a winner? No thanks man, I have too many responsibilities toward my family and other things that they can seriously take the bike after they calculated the risk, punishment and possibly getting shot for their actions. It's not worth it! Just a thought.....
