Anybody running Metzler tires? I was also told that I should change BOTH tires at once. I wanted to put a Power pilot on the rear and run another 1000 or so miles on my front stock Dunlop. I have read many posts of other people running two different types of tires on the front and rear. What gives? Sales pitch or BS

I barely ever had the same brand tire on front and back on the Cyclone. Only once was there even a detectable issue, a slight tendency to meander right to left at 52mph and no weight on the bars. Not bad, and it went away at other speeds. It never bothered me.

The handling could be somewhat random of you have radically different curves on the two different brands though, it will be somewhere between the different characteristics of the two different tires.

I ran both front and rear Spot Tecs,Then replaced the rear with a Michilen pilot power,I can only say I wish I would have been running them the whole time.MUCH more grippier ESPECIALLY in the wet but they heat up real fast and stick like cement in the dry.(right now I'm running the Sport Tec on the front still)

We raced using Metzeler Rennsports (Now called Racetech I think). Brilliant tyres and very well suited to the XB. 100% better than the original Japlops.

I ran a Z6 front with a BT020 rear with no problems. I now have the Z6 both front and rear.

It's always better to run matching tires front and rear, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. The only thing I know of that's Metzeler specific about this is with the new(ish) Z6 Roadtec. There was something about never running a Z6 rear without a Z6 front due to it's ability to displace water. I gather there's something about the tread on the Z6 front that allows them to do something different with the Z6 rear.

I notice the Z6 rear has zero grooves right down the middle. On the BT020, the grooves overlapped the center of the tire in places.

I have Pilot Sport on the front and Metzler Z6 on rear. When the Front Pilot Sport goes I will replace with Metzler M1. I run Metzler M1 front and Z6 rear on my R1 and love it. Get good traction and decent mileage out of the rear

Running ME Z6 front and rear. After 1500mi they aren't showing anything near the wear of the Dunlop 207's. Good traction wet and dry, solid handling in the corners.

I've had Michelin Pilot Sports, Pirelli Evo Dragons and now Metzler Z6's on my 900SS. The Z6's are still under 1000 miles so I'm not noticing much wear.

Z6's are a huge improvement over Michelin, seem better suited for the corners than the Pirelli's---turn in very smooth and stable without any abruptness. Actually, a confidence inspiring tire. Only a little amount of rain time and there were no issues. I like them better than the Evo Dragons which turned out to be excellent rain tires. The Z6's warm up quickly, much quicker than any Dunlop I've had on a Buell.

Truthfully, it feels almost sinful to ride them on the street because they feel so good in the corners...
