OK, I JUST PICKED UP AN 03 9R WITH A TI-FORCE, AND A REALLY EARLY TFI. IT STUDDERS ALOT, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON QUITE FREQ. IF ANY ONE ELSE HAS THIS COMBO, PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INSIGHT ON HOW TO SET IT UP. THANKS ALOT. BUELL666 |

I have that setup and have no stutter problems at all. Im a little off of the stock TFI settings. The airbox is drilled and it has a velocity stack mod. Ill look under the seat and get back to you. |

What are the settings on the TFI? Make sure the 4th pot is set between 6 and 8 o'clock. If its above 8 it causes the engine ligt to come on. If that doesn't help, disconnect the TFI and see if the light comes on. Maybe you have another problem. |

"If its above 8 it causes the engine ligt to come on. " Not quite true . Mine was at 8:30 with a Force pipe (not Ti-Force) and my CEL never lit... The fourth pot on a TFI is a real balancing act. Too low, it causes the AFV to creep up. Too high, it causes the AFV to creep down. Bad Mojo. |

Yeah, that's right, but I was actually quoting Dobeck on that. I had mine on 8:45 without a light but I never ran it for a long period of time. |

Thanks for not shouting . On my twelve my settings with a Force pipe were Off, Off, Off and 8:30. I'm running a PCIII now and it "seems" to be a good thing so far... |

You need to pull fuel out at certain rpms which can't be done with the tfi. even with the settings off, my motor was drowning. If you have the TFI put it on and give it a shot, maybe you can tune it to your liking. |

I have this exhaust system and it sounds un-tuned and like . The exhaust was leaking out every corner of muffler. I believe they slapped together the silencer without much care. I took it upon myself and corrected all the neglected areas. Saturday I'll post results but I would'nt buy that complete kit again. The header is great but I felt like I was lied to by the owner he made a lot of claims to sell me this product. He said it was a complete system and no problems in the installation process. He wanted my money more than assisting the public out with a great product. Maybe thats why there is no refunds. Don't get me wrong the system looks great but you will need a new Buell ECM and be willing to get machine shop fab parts. Good luck... |

"I DIDNT ASK FOR PEOPLE TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY I TYPE," Do you usually insult people that you are seeking assistance from? Bad Form. |

In what form is that an insult? This is a Buell forum, not a typing class. |

If someone walked into a room and yelled "HELP ME WITH MY TIRE PLEASE!" I would ask them to calm down and speak "normally" before I would help them with their tire (I'm not interested in helping pissed off people when it's not my job). If they then yelled back at me to STFU about their yelling, I would turn around and walk away. Some people don't know that all caps equals yelling in text. The first thing that was said about it was nothing more than an informative and polite statement about the fact that caps equals yelling. You then came back with the rudeness instead of saying "Oh, sorry, I didn't realize I was yelling. Could you help me out?". I didn't see what you said as an "insult" exactly, but certainly... Bad form. In any case... Glad you stopped yelling . /EDIT - Oh and BTW... "MAYBE AN OVERHEAD CAM MOTOR SO IT CAN REV HIGHER," That wouldn't help the revs. (Message edited by m1combat on June 30, 2005) |

so the v-rod, the rc51, tl1000, superhawk, and any other overheadcam motor doesnt have a higher redline than a pushrod motor? i know there are alot of factors, but what i meant by that was the fact that that is one of the biggest differences in all those motors and the buell motor. crank, connectiong rods, .........i wasnt saying that was the only thing, but it certainly is one of the factors. if im wrong, please correct me. |

The rev limiting factor in the Buell engine is the stroke length (piston speed). This gives us our wonderful low end power. If we reduce the stroke, we can increase the revs. The stock valve train (and it's a train lemme tell you ) is good (from what I hear) to about 8500 R's. Revs are only really useful on a track where you want to take advantage of torque multiplication at high speeds. At "street speeds" where our bikes are engineered for we don't need any more revs. We need good power at the bottom of the range. If you decrease the stroke, you will lose some of that. Yes, you'll have more on top which will be useful for breaking the wind but we don't need to go more than 135 on the street. It's mostly useless... I agree with the six speed, but IMO it would only be useful as an overdrive so we could run 85MPH all day at <= 3K R's instead of 4K... I'd even sacrifice my fifth gear (I rarely make it over 115 anyway) for a tall cruising gear. |
