Has anyone on the board painted their XBs frame? If so, how much work is involved? Does the bike need to be completely broken down? I am of the opinion that my CityX would benefit from a black frame...what am I lookin' at to achieve this?

Dagwood, one alternative might be to get the carbon fiber frame covers and perhaps paint them the desired color - thus you wouldn't need to concern yourself with disassembly.

I would say make it a winter project- but oops you live in AZ your winter is probably the best time to ride. I would say give it two good weeks of working on it everyday, and you could probably get done without rushing it.

Painting the carbon fiber frame covers would probably be a mistake. If some reason you have to take them off or if one went loose and you had to remove it to reapply it again the paint would most likely crack and peel.

My bike is fully painted (frame, swingarm, seat rails, and what not), and it was not completely torn down. It just took alot of masking and it looks pretty good, though tearing it down would make it a bit nicer in some spots. I don't think it was worth the extra effort in my case. I have a pic in my profile, and can probably load some better ones if wanted.

Bad, the base coat is black with a metallic purple flake. Let me see if I can get some loaded up, I'm terrible with this stuff.

I remember that XB! An older gentleman that called himself Mike_the_Bikes (or something like that) had a thread on another site showing the process he went through painting it...along with a lot of pics with Hooters girls and his toys (dirty ole man! ) I'll see if I can remember the site and possibly find the links...

Thanks Tucson, that's a hell of a lot easier than trying to load a bunch of new pics. I will still try to get some new ones up, it looks a little better now. That Mike is a dirty old man, but a great one too.
