Nope we left KC on the 16th and went through the Black hills in SD, then on to Yellowstone, then up to Glacier Park MT. We left Great Falls MT at noon on the 14th rode till 8a.m. Took a 4 hour nap then rode till 8p.m. on the 15 to get home. 28 hours on our bikes out of 32. Around 450 miles of that in the rain, from Montana to the middle of South Dakota. Great Trip. |

That's some serious mileage, bro. How'd the bikes hold up? No major problems, I take it. |

Yellowstone tore up the rear tire on my M2 that I had to have changed,,,And then the next day my rear wheel bearings went out..changed those in a bikers garage that we met the night before...but other that that no major probs...It was all in all a great trip. |

As for the packing list, rain gear, sleeping bag, 1 man tent, underwear, socks, various tools, sweat shirt, travel toothbrush, pit stick, and thats about it. Oh yeah budget around $500 dollars more than you think its going to cost. If you don't use it great but have extra money handy. Something I also learned on this trip, if you are taking only the jeans on your backside, make sure they are black, my blue jeans were blue and show'd everything, bugs, grass, grease, ect.. Anyway got to go to work see ya later..... |

Buell should give them new bikes for something like that. Great for brand recognition. Not in today's world though would I expect to see that. No they would rather have Buells collecting dust on dealer floors. |

Hey all Larry, Tim and I(JJ), had a great time. I would recommend to anyone and everyone to put together a trip like this one at least once. Our XB's performed flawlessly, I now have 16,300 miles on my bike. I bought it in March of 2004 with 2700 miles. I understand that not everyone will be able to get or take 10 or so days off straight like we did, nevertheless if you do jump all over it. I look back on our ride and a great feeling of accomplishment fills me, sport bikes and touring, wow how cool is that. Sorry the pics are bad! Tim's camera is so good that to get them to 60k I had to really compress, crop, resize them. |

Kcfirebolt No we didn't get to run the Bear tooth pass. It had ice and snow on it. I guess two days before we went through yellowstone they got 6 inches of snow. That limited us to the east entrance, then down to o'l faithful, then out the NW entrance. I'll tell ya what though we rode twisties from the black hills to Glacier park MT though, except for the short stints of interstate, well even in MT they are somewhat twisty once you get past Butte. The east side on Logan pass in Glacier is awesome, first we coasted 12 miles with out engines off, then on the way back to east glacier there are about 15 to 20 miles of 25mph to 35mph twisties. We were blazing through them. The trip was AWESOME!!!!! except the hail in Great Falls and the rain on the way home, oh yeah and the heat from Iowa to KC. hahahahahahahahaha but I'm not complaining!!!! |
