The rear wheel on my 9S did not have any weights on it. So does it not require balancing? The front was balanced. |

I only used one weight on this tire. The one before it took four. They vary... |

Mine has all your missing weights. I was cleaning it today and noticed 4 of them stuck back there. |

I dont have any weights at all on my wheels...all you have to do is blance the wheel, then mark where it needs weight spin it and put that spot over the valve stem...keep doing it till it says 0.00oz (so far i have had them all get to 0.00oz) |

Rage, I like the idea of your system. Could you explain it in a bit more detail? I can't quite figure out what you meant in your last post. Perhaps a step by step explanation would help people who have never seen you do it. Thanks |

The shop manual says the wheels are marked at the heavy spot with a blue dot. I don't see one on my back wheel (I've got the tire dismounted waiting for my new Syncs). Is the valve stem at the heavy spot Rage? -Edit- I re-read the manual and see it is the light spot that is marked. I improvised a balancing stand by running some rope through the axle and hanging the wheel on it. By rotating the axle back and forth to break the bearing friction, the heavy spot settles to the bottom and viola! the little black dot indicating the light spot is on top. So the yellow mark on the tire should go 180d from the dot on the rim (both of mine were in the middle of the rim, normally covered by the tire). Bill Thanks, Bill (Message edited by xring on June 27, 2005) |

Perfect timing, more questions about wheel balancing. Is there an inexpensive rig I can buy or build to do this? I just got my wheels back from having tires mounted and found a note on the receipt that they did not balance the rear wheel because the axle was too large! I'd like to have it balanced before putting it back on and going 70mph. |

I've been using this method: http://www.clarity.net/~adam/tire-changing.html Haven't got to try the results yet. Good luck, Bill |

just slapped my third metzeler Z6 on the rear of my lightning a couple weeks ago... forgot to even LOOK for the balance marks. not running any weights, and the tire is just randomly mounted. have run it up to 125 mph a couple times, you know to seat the beads...... seems to be behaving. |

OK... Mount tire on rim with yellow dot over valve stem (color of dot may vary with tire man.) spin tire on balacer where it tells you to put the weight on the rim take a marker and mark that spot on the tire. now break the bead agian and spin the tire till you mark you made is over the valve stem. Balance tire again, just keep doin the above till you get to 0.00oz or as low as it will go so that you will only have 1 or 2 weights Vs. 4 or 5. |

My rims have a dot marked on them... So far, with Metz M1's I've been able to line up that dot with the dot on the tire and haven't needed any weights. The stupid Honda shop mounted the tire opposite to that once and they put 4-5 weights on it... |
