i though i would show you why i got a buell... i got this zx9r 2000 new in 2001 after getting my 916 stolen, it now has 18000 km's and a cracked frame, it's was never crashed or even fallen from the stand ,it's sitting in the garage since last august... it's not garanteed any more but kawasaki said it would pay a frame out of good will, i would have to do the work, seems the frame is back ordered ( since last year). anyway i am sick of it taking up place in the garage... so i though i would give kawasaki some free advertisement of the quality of their product. enjoy the pics |

Being able to spot things like that is the best reason I can think of to regularly hand wash and wax your bike. That could have been catastrophic. Definitely makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. |

Get a good welder to repair it. Repaint the frame and sell it! |

Zxmarc, What part of the frame cracked on the bike? Couldn't see the crack in the second pic of the bike. |

Me, too - it looks as if it's under the third 'a' on the tank. It's been a while since I took Statics, but what the heck kind of spot for a failure is THAT? (I mean that I'd expect to see something near the steering head or swingarm pivot.) Any MEs reading this thread? I'd be WILD over this. It's cool that you've gotten Kawasaki to respond appropriately. OH MY......and I like Kawasaki's.I've got a little 250 Ninja that steers and brakes amazingly quick. But how 'bout this little factoid? my Buell XB is 3"shorter (wheelbase)than even my 250!! Score another one for Buell! |

Is that a casting there, or an extrusion? Looks like a casting. Probably porosity or an inclusion in the casting weakened it. Did you find anything like that around the crack? It might be inside... |
