Hello all, I am looking for performance mods, but want to be able to return the bike to stock on relatively short notice. I have heard about the piston swap and would be interested in any info acquired by people who have done this mod. Particularly in a race application. Any other mods that can be done in a similar fashion would be appreciated. The bike has the full factory race kit, with the standard race ecm, not the limited issue race ecm. Otherwise it is a stock 04 xb12r. Thanks for your input. Brian |

One of our race bikes at Buell of Edison runs XB9 pistons in a 12. We have had zero mechanical problems with it and it performs very well. The biggest differences that we noticed is throttle response and mid-range power. Pete |

Thanks Pete. That's the kind of review I'm looking for. I figure piston swap and some hotter cams and we'll be good to go. The bike has already been to GMD computrack and the suspension has been worked over, Penske rear, Attack triples, Dialed in to work with Michelin slicks. Ought to be an "E" ticket for my brother to race. (Message edited by diablobrian on June 24, 2005) |

Pump gas may be a problem though. |

I'm talking about a bike that'll never see pump gas. At least not in it's current incarnation. Race Only with VP race fuel. Thanks for the warning though. |
