i have d&d can, k&n filter, race ecm, and air box kit from asb , not installed yet though.

I have a chance to get a powercommander installed and tuned for just building a local shop (canton cycle specialties) a web site. Nothing fancy , just a web presence.

Will it be ok to install power commander with the race ecm also? any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I've read alot about the pc2 is actually a pc3 blah blah. could someone tell me exactly what i can use or need for an xb9sx. thanks.

also, what will I gain with the PC2 or 3? Will it make the bike more tempermental? I like the turn the key and go reliability. I'm not a big "tuner type". The bike runs basically great for my tastes now, I just have the oppourtunity to get this unit installed for next to nothing. thanks again

I'd say if you really like the turn the key and go thing then just leave it alone : ). I only say that because any mods you do w/o really opening the engine aren't going to make "much" difference. I suppose I'd certainly throw on the parts you have, but the race ECM should be capable of dealing with the D&D. Of course a proper tune will be noticeable...

I've heard that the power commanders can lose their map on you "all of a sudden". I've also heard that to really get the most out of one on an XB you really should use the O2 sensor.

One more thing... The only PCII's that are actually PCIII's are the ones that were sold by K&N for the X1 or ?S3?. The difference between those two models would be the length of the wires.

Yes.

Also, print this out and give it to your tuner...

i had the d&d and race ecm and was a great mix, i really liked the sound and the performance. If they are going to do a pc3 tune for you free I would do it. Get some before pc3 dyno data, be interesting to see if its lean.

SUGGESTION: We've been finding that the same mods don't warrant the same tuning on a TFI - there's no reason a PC will be any different.

Should we try resetting the A/F before tuning? Might give a more standard base to start from. Troll, if you know anybody with the software you can reset your A/F value before loading the map. That way everybody is starting at the same base?

Just a thought...and I don't think it was mine originally, was it M1?

Oh, and send me the map - I'll be creating a library of maps for everybody...I think I posted the request for them earlier, but I've only gotten a couple forwarded from Odie.

will send the map when it gets done, no idea yet when this will happen, I still might try to get him to pay me cash instead of parts. I am still a bit leary of putting the PC on my bike. I definately dont want to be wrenching/tuning more than riding. like i said, the bike runs great with he factory race ecm and d&d can. The guy who owns the shop that is going to do this, is tuning it and everything. He said they usually sell the maps? is this normal? Mines free but i notice people on here just swapping them and passing them along. What gives? I am completely illiterate about these fancy pants toys.

I can ride wheelies though.....

Anyway, thanks for all the input. I love this group.

Just installed my PCIII. Took me all of 1.5 hours including the Hi-Po O2 sensor. Fired right up and throttle response is fantastic. I richened it up across the board until tomorrow when I can reload a different map. I'm going for a quick ride to make sure she will get me to work tonight. I'll be back shortly. Odie

All I can say is WOW! What a difference the PCIII made. No stumble whatsoever (TFI). Power everywhere. Front wheel is alot lighter now. Need to let the ecm learn on the way to work. I'm going to try and remap it tomorrow. I think lots more power is available. Wow.........

"Only a Power Commander Tuning center should change these numbers. CAUTION: Do not make changes in "The Box " including closed loop"

What if my bike is running slightly rich at idle? I noticed that my A/F gauge doesn't change at all when I make adjustments in that area -- from -40 to +10. So can adjustment not be made "in the box" then whats the purpose of the high $$$ o2 sensor?
