Looking for a good ride this weekend. Looking for somewhere to ride to, ride around and then have some cool nightlife. Just wondering if any fellow buellers are familiar with this area. Thanks.

DC Brag is a good group of guys. I dont get to ride with them much due to other obligations. These guys know the best twisty roads around.

I'll be going to MIR this weekend. My Buddy is running his jet bike Saturday night. I know of some decent roads between here and there but other than the Roanoke Area, I just kinda enjoy getting lost.

If you're not doing anything and want to see something really effin' cool...go to Maryland International raceway this weekend.

Oh yeah.. There are a lot of good roads not far from .. well.. anything. Depending on how you want to ride, there are stretches that run from 30 or so miles (full trip) to over 200. DCBrag has a few nice runs on their website. I know a bunch of roads in the NoVa area. And Apehangers could be a pretty good bet for something to do later on.. Hmmmm..

Whatcha thinkin' of? (I'm married so my 'nightlife' is home.. where the real excitement is! )

Justin

From Alexandria there are some cool roads not too far once you get out of the urban areas.

Click HERE for the "Real Estate" ride on our DCBRAG website. Take your Virginia State Map, highlight the route I show and you'll hit some of the best twisties in Alexandria/Arlington/Fairfax County areas. There are some other roads that are not highlighted which are also excellent (find Kirby road in Arlington, one of my favorites)

Try to avoid 123 south by the Occoquan if you can the construction there has traffic all screwed up. take Furnace road to rt 1/Old Colchester if you can.

If you get a chance come to one of our DCBRAG meetings at Ft. Washington HD/Buell. Next meeting will be Saturday, July 1st.

One ride I did a few years ago and I want to do again sometime this summer is Rock Creek Park in DC. In the DARK, Friday night before they shut it down to traffic Saturday morning.

Meet in Old Town by Union Street, leave at around 9 pm, have a fun/challenging/scary ride through the park, then stop by Adams Morgan and hang out at Asylum for a while.

I just know them cause I have gotten lost and hit enough dirt roads to know where the good ones are!

Even with that Peter probably has forgotten more roads than I know!

Seriously, the best resource for good bike roads are free from your home state.

Both Virginia and Maryland have "Scenic Highway" maps that are excellent motorcycle roads.

You can pick up the maps at Travel info stops on the highway, or go to the VDOT store in Springfield mall an pick up all the free maps you want.

here's Virginia: CLICK HERE

here's Maryland: CLICK HERE
We'll be hitting some of these during the BRAG rally in LaVale later this year.

here's the National Byways Program: CLICK HERE

Jeeezzzz Jose, You're makin' me blush... Awww Shucks.

Well, The only way I can repay it is to drop a little run on Justin.. Just cause..

OK, not knowing where you're starting from, I'm gonna start you at one end, and let you run it through whichever direction you like better.

From Leesburg.
Old Rt. 7 (business 7 - E. Colonial Highway)
Harmony Church Rd. (rt. 704)
Lime Kiln Road (they just re-paved a good portion of it)
Snickersville Turnpike
Mountville Rd.
LEFT on Foxcroft Road (towards Middleburg)
RIGHT onto Rt. 50
LEFT onto Halfway Road (Rt. 626)
RIGHT on Rt. 55
RIGHT on Balantyre Rd. (Rt. 628)
LEFT on Airlie Rd (Rt. 605)
LEFT on Rt. 29
RIGHT on Vint Hill Rd. (Rt. 215)
LEFT on Rt. 28 into Manassas.

Take it either direction. Just be aware, some of these roads have sudden and tricky twists to them, so be aware and don't hit them full on until you've seen them at least once.

Try the Colonial Parkway, it starts from RTE 17 in Yorktown and goes to Jamestown. The ride isn't really a fast one but it takes you through an area rich in history. The Jamestown Settlement, Yorktown Battlefields, Colonial Williamsburg and the ride is nice it's only about 25 miles from Yorktown to Jamestown but it's very scenic.
