Buddy of mine bought a brand new gsxr 1000 about the same time as I got my 9r. Lately anytime we go anywhere and someone comes to check out our bikes he is constantly bragging about MY bike not his. He's thinking about selling his bike and buying a lightning. I'll keep on him. |

hehe that's too cool. Real riders know real bikes when they see them. Not that there's anything wrong with a gsxr 1000. I certainly wouldn't turn one down if someone wanted to give me one but I feel it's too extreme for everyday "sane" street riding. Unless you're on a track, it's wasted talent. A modern 600 however would be sweet if I could ever get use to a high revving bike. Nah... I think I'll keep my Buellitfull Buell Tell your buddy that his interest in Buell has shown him to be an intelligent man with good tastes |

Where do you find smart friends? All of mine love and ride the machines from across the pond. |

I rode with a 04 GSXR 600 today, my bike is 04 12R. I could smoke his butt everywhere, straights, twisties. I don't think we ever ran over 110. Those who say a 600 will outrun a 12r, have lost their mind. He may not have been a great rider in the twisties, but on the straight, I'd leave him 7 cars behind, Though the twisties I had to pull over and wait for him to catch up, he went home with his tale tucked between his legs. And yes it was fun fun fun!!! (Message edited by norrisperformance on June 12, 2005) (Message edited by norrisperformance on June 12, 2005) |

Wow impressive Norris.I think what you found though was a guy that either couldn't ride or wouldn't stab the throttle. An 04 Suzuki GSX-R600 is fast, faster then a Buell in a straight line.Specs on an 04 is 103.6 hp and 10.77 sec. and 128.2 mph.I love my Buell and wouldn't take an inline over it but its just not as fast as the inlines in the straights. But then again thats not why I bought it. |

Hmmm... I keep re reading & re reading this thread & I can't for the life of me find where any one said a 600 would smoke a 12R. There's nothing about a 12R smoking a 600 either except the one post. I don't think this is about bike performance since nothing of the sort was mentioned in the first post. I think it more about overall bike appreciation. |

It's wrong to think that because you outrode someone that you must have a superior performing machine. |

I used to ride a Ninja 600 and would have to crash to get anyone to look at the bike. Bought the XB and problem solved. It does get noticed still, after 2 yrs of riding around the same places. |

Almost one year here and mine sure gets noticed. It's even more fun to ride with the HOG group and out of all the bikes people gather around mine. (Message edited by cataract2 on June 13, 2005) |

If they were riding on roads where they never got over 110, then why would anyone be surprised that the Buell would win? That's tight roads, folks...much tighter and slower than virtually any race track, and it's what Buell XBs were built for. Handling and acceleration and roadholding (lighter unsprung weight) will win every time on tight bumpy roads. |

An XB outrunning a 600 supersport in a straight line? I don't care if it's a 12 or a 9...it ain't happenin'. I have a very good running '03 XB9S, full race kit and my wife can outrun me in a straight line, very quickly I may add, with her '05 Yamaha FZ6. If you're unfamiliar with this bike it's a standard with a reworked R6 motor in it. On a good day this thing is about 92hp at the rear wheels. Don't get me wrong, I like my Buell (I don't love it), but it's not my primary bike. It's not even my secondary bike. My primary ride is an '04 FJR1300, my play bike is an '03 GSX-R750. I bought the Buell as somewhat of an experiment. The XB is, with equal riders, nearly unbeatable in the tight, technical stuff. Infact, anything short of a supermotard isn't going to touch the XB in the tight stuff. XB's were never designed at drag racers or high terminal speed machines. They handle very well. They ain't gonna outrun any of the modern 600cc supersport machines in a drag race. |

Dago's XB will outrun any Japanese four cylinder, even the ZX10R. He has the race kit. |

LOL @ the last 2 posts! What's really sad is that either one of the 2 above mentioned bikes only need the first 2 possibly 3 gears to do it in a straight line. |

I Love my 600 gsxr, i loved my Firebolt too but you know i will never go back to Buell unless of course it was a free one and HD Dealer wasn't involved. Each to their own. Besides who the F.U. C. K. in there right mind would ever think that its cool to race with that kind of aggression on public streets. IS THAT UGLY ENOUGH FOR YOU GUYS. I;m sure this post will get me a warning or even kicked off this forum but i am tired of this stupid back and forth BS of what bikes stomp what bikes....just plain stupid. the topic should be who's eago is bigger and who's going to be the that dies first. |

So anyway.... Buellin_ri, you should turn your buddy onto this site. It'll either pull him into the maddness of Buell addiction or it'll completely scare him away from Buell. Can't really tell which way it'll go at this point. |
