greetings to all. just put on my 3rd metzeler Z6 rear, a most excellent tire. 6300 miles on the last one, very nice wet road tire, works good in cold weather too. question for the gang: how do you like the pirelli sync? how is tread life? wet weather manners? looks like a really cool tread, but wonder how they behave. field reports please. thanks. rubber down, dean |

I had M3Z6's on the M2, and got the new XB9SX with the syncs. I loved (and still love) the Z6, best tire I tried (better then D205, D220, Z4) on the Cyclone. That being said, I think the Sync's are even better. You give up just a shade of life (probably 5500 miles rather then 6500 miles), but i think they stick the same dry, and better wet, and are remarkably good in gravel / mud / grass. Gravel roads at 30 mph were no problem whatsoever, and an accidental "offroad adventure" turned into a COMPLETE non event. I like the Z6's also, but I will be sticking with the syncs for the foreseeable future. They do look really cool as well. |

have run the XB over a hundred on gravel, passing belly dumps in construction zones at 2:00 AM. wheeeeee. |

I put a set of Syncs on my 2003 XB9S at 15,000 miles and now have 18,000+. The bike seems to ride better and feels more settled. If I were to purchase new tires tomorrow, I would most likely buy another set. Keith |

I had the Pilot Sport up front and the Pilot Road out back. That combination worked pretty darn well for me but I like the way the bike feels now much better. I'm curious as to how many miles I will get out of the back tire... Keith |

Put Syncs on my X1 ~3500 miles ago. Great wet/dry traction and wear is looking like it will be good also. I will continue using them. And as Reepicheep said "they look cool". Frank |

Syncs are sweet. I have been running them on my 12S for more that 5k. Rear is overdue for replacement but they have been great! There is always a good bit of construction around town and they rip right through the loose gravel on the pavement. I have pushed em hard in pouring rain and they have never lost my confidence. I also spent a good bit of time in the twisties and they stick like glue in the corners. They receive the Stealth Stamp of Approval!

Hmmm .. So no one has actually worn out a set of Syncs yet? I'm wondering how many miles you can get out of a rear tire as well. |

I would guess 5k milage for abuse, 6k on average, and 8k for those with far more restraint then I will ever have. My gut feeling is that they are just a *shade* softer then the MeZ6. |

With all the rave about the syncs, I think I might have screwed up. The guys at the dealer were telling me to go with those tires, and I didn't listen. I went with the Pirelli Diablo. Bike still at the dealer for the upgrade bearings. (BTW, Thank's for the info on that!!) They were telling me that one of the techs there was running those tires and has about 6,800 on them, and he's not easy on them. |

Had 8K on mine when it came time for replacement. I just rode today for over 3 hours in the rain and never once felt unstable. This was through deep puddles and all. |

The Diablos are great tires from what I hear as well. They will probably stick better dry, but will also probably wear out quicker. |

At the Buell Demo Days, I got a chance to drive on the Dunlops and I can see why everyone does not like them. On the 9r, I got squirrly in 3 separate turns. YIKES!!! MAN was I glad to get back to my Scorpions. On my previous bikes, I always ditched the stock tires for Metzlers and felt better turn in, better grip and smoother handling. The Syncs feel similar and give me confidence. Been snagged twice in really bad rain and they tracked extremely straight. I highly recommend them and oo yea I'll add to the "they look cool" comment because they do

I don't know what you guys don't like with the D207 that's what was on my gsxr 750 witch I was doing track days with and never had any problem with drip and I felt very confident. |

The D207's that come on a Gixxer seven are different from the ones on the XB. The rear tire has a profile more like a 190. All sorts of handling evils are present with the D207-F. It's HORRIBLE in the wet also. I almost took a guard rail to the teeth at about 100 because of those damn tires. There was an eight to twelve foot wide strip of water running across a long high speed sweeper. I didn't notice until I was about 50' away from it and the tendency for those tires to make the XB stand up and go straight while braking in a turn made me only let off the gas, I slowed down to about 100 by the time I went over it and ended up with my right leg about 4" from the guard rail by the time the bike stopped sliding. I have enough experience on the Sportec M1's to know that this would not have happened with them. I wasn't even leaning all that hard. The M1's would have stuck just fine. They suck on the XB. Notice the period. |

Had the OE Syncs that came on my CityX - the rear tire shredded badly and parts of the tread came off, almost like it was a re-tread. Switched to D208s and am very pleased. Only had 2300 miles on the Sync, never did a burnout or anything like that. Picked up a nail in the D208 and it remained completely inflated when I rode to three bike places to get it fixed. |
