Rode to work today - got there and found that a nail was stuck in my rear tire - right in the middle of the pu$$y stripe. Took the bike to my local HD/Buell place (Mancuso) - they wanted $180 for a D208 and $94 to install it. Needless to say I walked out disgusted and took my bike across the freeway to the Honda dealer - there I saw a XB12S that also had a nail in the rear tire. Looks like the Honda dealership is getting Buell service business because the HD dealers drive us a way with a vengeance. |

My HD Dealer tried the same reaming with me. I ordered a D220 online for $99 and had american classic cycles put it on for $35. My local HD dealer wouldn't even let me glance at his service manual so I could take the wheels off and bring them to him w/the new tires. I bought a service manual take care of things myself. |

Cycle Gear is a great place to get tires and installation if you pull the wheels first. Also they have a lot of sales on tires. I usually get Diablo Corsa replacements on sale and I think it is around $260 for the pair at 20% discount. They are a better tire. xbolt12 |

Great reason to sign up for CLASS http://www.classrides.com/dunlop_tires.html 208 ZR: Front and Rear Set: $200 shipped. plus if you own a '05 XB they'll knock $50 off the price of the CLASS and challenge your dealer to match. |

I know what you mean, Joele. Quaid H/D charged me same the same price for the same tire and another $60 to mount and balance when I brought them the loose wheel. I paid it because I didn't know any better. Recently replaced my back tire again and saved $100 by going somewhere else. Didn't get the Dunlops. I'm don't care for them. |

I'm looking at shinko's 69.95 for a rear. off bike install of 25.00. So a new rear tire on the wheel for under 100.00 I'll let you know how they are when I get it. (shinko) |

Bbstacker, I moved to the San Bernardino Mtns November of last year and had purchased a tire in San Diego prior to moving. Well it came time to change tires, I removed my wheel from the bike and first took it to Chapparel and they refused to do the work. I then took it to Quaid and expected the same response or an outrageous price and they only charged me $35.00 to change the tire. They charged you $60.00 for one wheel I agree that is highway robbery. |

I'm so glad a tyre install is only $5 at the local track. The guy even supplies stands and tools to remove the wheel yourself or will do it for you at another $5. |

Krassh, I just had Chaparral install a new rear tire for me 2 weeks ago. They even knew it was a Buell and that it was right-hand drive. I bought the tire from them though. I wonder if that makes a difference. |

Mesa, Not too long ago there was mention of the Shinko tires. The assessment is here...www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/119826.html |

We charge 1 hour per wheel if it's on the bike. Our labor is 55.00/hr 1/2 hour per wheel if you bring it in off the bike. Of course we are liable for any damage to your wheel, pay a tech to do it,on the shops tire machine and spin balancer(those are not free),keep the lights on and hopefully make a small profit. I think that's fair. |

I just got a pair of Michelin Pilot Powers at Cycle Gear for $190. MY HD dealer sent me there, as I didn't want the Dunlops. Then my HD dealer installed 'em on the bike for $80. I love my dealer. Both of them. |

Shinko's. Wycked tried them... Said they didn't heat up real well, but once they were, they were OK. As far as taking it in the pooper... Mount your own tires, it's not that hard to learn. If I can do it, anyone can! I'm a clutz! |

Bbstacker, Yeah I did not buy the tire from them but I would think they would cut me a break as I was not going to drive all the way to San Diego to get the place I bought the tire from to do the work. I have shopped Chaparral before but doubt I will buy a tire from them in the future. Though even if they had agreed they were talking like $64.00 for changing the tire off the bike. |
