Started off pretty decently....Weather was in the lower 80's and sunny this morning on my way in to work. Headed into a nice 270 degree sweeper off Hwy 281. As I rolled into the RH sweeper, I realized that our glorious Highway Department had the good sense to attempt to sandblast all the surface cracks in the ramp in preparation for tar (?) and there was fresh blasting sand everywhere. I lost traction and while feeling the rear begin to slide only managed to keep it upright by doing everything wrong that I possibly could...i.e. rolling off the throttle, getting on the binders, focusing directly in front of me etc.... Moral: Don't assume that just because it was clear yesterday that it will be clear today... Jump ahead thirty minutes and I arrive at work. I stop and look down only to find that the left frame puck that I so carefully applied last week is no longer present...No clue as to where or when it took flight... I tugged gently on the solo remaining one and it came off quite easily Moral: Some on this board have reported less than stellar adhesion from the Buell pucks...My 2 cents..If in doubt, remove and reapply with a different adhesive that is more secure... To summarize... I think I shoulda stayed in bed this morning... |

I'll go ya one better...I forgot to add one little bit of news...My new '05 Ford was struck by lightning while we were driving down the highway last week.... So far the damage to the elec system (yes most of it is covered by insurance) is over $4000.00. I could use that gas stove about now.... |

Sounds like a .357 going off in a car (don't ask how I know this..) Big blinding flash of light... blew the antenna off the roof. Then it just got reeallly quiet... |

You should play the lottery. With all that bad luck, somethings gotta give. BTW, any pics of the Ford? I have never heard of a vehicle getting struck by lightning, scary! |

I'll get some pics but there isn't much to see. Other than the fried antenna, the damage was (so far) restricted to the electrical systems. No big burned jagged holes or anything fun like that. |

Dude, I feel for you, but you've got the wrong attitude about this stuff. Look at it this way, you SURVIVED getting your vehicle struck by lightning and walked away from it. Insurance will pay for the car. You DIDN'T lowside your Buell, slide it into a curb, flip it, bend both wheels and the frame, and mangle yourself in the process. You're pretty dang lucky- have a brewski and count your blessings! |

My pucks stick great. Cleaned the surface with alcohol per provided instructions. Probably helps that I have never waxed the frame. |
