Some avi's of the runs, I can't put up a direct link to those. He told me he had three other buells with race kits fitted last week which all had 3 to 5 hp lower results. The dip between 4000-5000 rpm is because its running dangerously lean and he warned me for that. So to the TFI guru's, how can fix a lean condition in that area? The rest was pretty good. My bike's config: XB9, k&n, mutilated airbox with homemade 12-cone, stock ecm with tfi, drummer and desnorkled. |

Ingemar, What are your settings????? Looks like you need to richen pots 2& 3 and let the bike get adjusted to that for a while....Let me know if you need my help on the settings.... Kevin www.kdfab.com |

Thanks Kevin, I would appreciate your input. The current TFI settings are 2.5, 3, 3.5, 8.5 After the dyno run I inceased #2 by .5. The dyno dude admitted he wasn't familiar with the tfi, but from what he understood from the instructions he said the first and second needs an increase .... I think he's wrong and the 3rd needs to be increased, but I don't know how much. The instructions say 5 points of increase on the main jet for every clock position. How lean is "almost dangerous"? 20:1? At the stock settings from the instructions the bike runs great, but occasionally backfires (sneezes in the inlet) and surges around 4500 when accelerating/backing off. I appreciate any suggestions you guys might have. |

Sounds good at 5 on #2 , and probably go to 4 on #3 and let the bike get acclamated to those changes before doing too much more....move them till it quits surging and you'll be good...... Kevin www.kdfab.com |

You mean #2 at 5? I meant I increased by 0.5 (2.5 to 3). Just making sure we understand each other. One more question. After making a change on the TFI, do you know for sure that you need the ecm to get used to the change? I didn't realize and I've been making changes quickly after each other when trying to find the correct setting. |

Yeh, I mean put #2 pot on 5 and #3 on 4 and ride the bike for a while in learning mode and stop and turn the engine off a few times and let it get adjusted....If I could see a full view of your fuel chart I can better help with the tfi.... This is the same thing Mike went through to get his bike to perform the way it does....Your on the right track but your increments are way too small to notice on the road if your ratio was that lean in areas..... I'll try that and be more patient in between changes. I guess I never gave it time to adjust. I know what you mean about the chart. It's a real bummer 'cos I asked the guy about it but he must have misunderstood. He had the lambda with a gauge, but it was a separate system so he couldn't print a chart. If I knew that I would have paid more attention to the gauge and his monitor, or even record an AVI with my digicam. |

I'd say increase pot 2 and 3 at least two clock positions. If you can post the a/f values I think I can get you close. If you don't have em, call the guy and try to get them. That's the important info. I would'nt ride the bike at 20:1 !!! Just my 2 cents. |
