Hey, been a while since I have posted but I am back. I have almost 22,000 miles on my 9s and I know that a rebuild is in my future. I am a motorcycle mechanic (work on jap bikes for money) so I can do all of the work myself I am just wondering what is usually wearing out and how much people are paying for parts. Also, what is the average life span of an xb motor. Thanks in advance for any help. Morgan |

If you are high milaged, drop the oil pump and look up in the engine and check the drive gear. They were a problem on the pre xb's, and it is not known yet if there is still a problem on the XB's. Do let us know as well... We don't have much data on the topic. I assume it's fixed, but we have one unexplained XB engine failure caused by exceptionally bad mechanic advice after some sort of oil pump issue. There are a number of 50k engines running around though, thats how much I hope to get out of mine before rebuild. |
