I really want a 1350 cc sport tourer, I need something with some touring capacity , but I don't want to give up the XB experience, and I don't want to go over to the mothership, the Street Rod is too heavy |

Isnt the XB engine much lighter than a sportster? I'd think that a v-rod to Buell motor would go under similar modifications. (?) |

i tour a bit on my XB. fuel range is an issue though, i can run 160 miles, and that is really pushing the envelope in Alaska. a 200 mile range would be nice for my next bike. i don understand how you guys can burn through a tank in 100 miles, i push my 12 pretty hard and still get 52 mpg. |

I have never gotten less than 50 MPG no matter how I ride my XB. That gives you 135 till reserve. |

That's my question, how much of an MPG hit do you guys experience that have done the various mods...race kit, drummer can only, air box mods... I know when i started messing with my Springer, i cut the MPG nearly in half by simply putting an open exhaust, open air box and re-jetting. My Firebolt will remain stock, simply because it's easier, It's good enough as is (and good enough is pretty damn good) and I'm REALLY liking the 50+mpg that I'm getting out of it. I don't see a bigger version of the XB getting the same gas mileage. I would think that it would have to drop into the mid 40's, prolly upper 30's with a passenger and weekend luggage. Fuel mileage on performance motors are ALWAYS drastically affected by both performance mods, and weight. |

Not true. Even with a #48 jet in my S3T, with the "race kit" installed(Air cleaner, pipe, muffler, and ignition), I see up to 52MPG. 42-46 average city commute, and mid 30s on a track day. |

I got 52MPG on my 99 S3T with the full race kit and Stage1 Nallin heads. 95HP. You cut your MPG in half either due to bad jetting (opening the exhaust and aircleaner will make it run leaner) or making your bike run so good you tend to run it harder. |

Is the XB9S motor lighter than the XL883 motor? We know that the XB9S is much lighter (100 lbs?) due to other reasons. Tim |

Interesting on the S3's. Carbed models, still interesting though that you're getting the same fuel economy even though those mods allow for more fuel. |

My brother has seen close to 60MPG IIRC on his S3T when it was bone stock. |
